Did Hitler attack polan because of economic reasons or because the poles were really beating those germans up at Danzig?

The latter

Hitler subscribed to a malthusian theory that the world was nearing maximum capacity in terms of population, and that unless Germany somehow acquire a shitload of extra farmland in the near future, mass starvation would be the result. He believed this, and it was a central motivator for his expansionism. He also hated Jews who told him that new methods of agriculture would solve the food crisis without the need for additional land, which is where is legendary hatred of Jews came from. Of course, the Jews were right, and new methods of agriculture did solve the problem.

wow thank you this answered all my questions!
I LOVE Veeky Forums!

"Polish Atrocities in Danzig" is 99.99% made up.

Hitler attacked Poland because if he didn't, the German economy would collapse because it was at war footing for 6 years but hasn't fought a war yet. Without seizing foreign cash reserves and resources to shore up the Reichsmark it's value would collapse and trigger hyperinflation/default/depression, all of which would lead to the Nazis being ousted and probably hung after the German people find out what kind of financial trickery the Nazis were doing to give the impression of a healthy economy.

he didnt hate jews for that you dumbass

he attacked Polan because they attacked a German radio tower

>Yees only the international banking solution is humane

Both Hitler and Poland were partly at fault. In mid 1930's there was a massive rearmament race. Everyone knew another war was coming, people were building up fast.

Hitler tried to secure alliances to protect himself, but most of those countries refused. All he could really get on his side were Italy and Stalin.

He tried to secure an alliance with Poland, they refused and instead made a anti-German pact with England and France.

This freaked Hitler out, he didn't want to get boxed in and have to fight a two front war, and time was not on his side. The longer he waited the more time France and England had to build up. He thought to himself if a war is going to happen, might as well be now when they're not ready than later when they are fully prepared.

The fact that Poland was being so obstinate about the Danzig and polish corridor issue made him even more certain that Poland was militarily against him and that he'd lose east Prussia in a future war because it was vulnerable.

I don't think hitler wanted a war but EVERYBODY knew the war was coming just like in 1914. Hitler merely thought it was in his advantage to strike first and sooner because time wasn't on his side.

>He also hated Jews who told him that new methods of agriculture would solve the food crisis without the need for additional land, which is where is legendary hatred of Jews came from.
I hate Hitler and legit love Judaism, but I need a citation on this.

He writes about this extensively in his book. Hitler was malthusian extremist and he hated jews who told him that science held the answers, rather than genocide.

No. The same situation that was happening in Danzig was also happening in Czechoslovakia, but peace talks happened. If the economy was a big concern then Hitler would've gone past the peace talks and invaded Czechoslovakia during the first confrontation.

>I don't think hitler wanted a war but EVERYBODY knew the war was coming just like in 1914
What could have possibly given people such an idea

>Hitler would've gone past the peace talks and invaded Czechoslovakia during the first confrontation.

You mean like he did?

>Nope, nothing warlike here

but user, Danzig ist Polnisch

I think he's going a little too far with the jews here.
I remember reading in Mein Kampf that Hitler was against the idea of "internal colonization", the idea of using the country's land to its fullest potential, because he thought you could only cultivate the land so much. He didn't attribute this idea to Jews however, but to well-meaning citizens who didn't know better.

>Germany was the only country that went hardcore nationalist in the 1930's

You're fucking retarded. Basically every country in 1930's central and Eastern Europe went totalitarian, and all their dogmas were "more clay".

It wasn't just Germany. Czechs were also extremely ultranationalistic during that period and were persecuting ethnic Germans which is why hitler made a big fuss about Czechoslovakia.

Then you have Poland, Hungary, Romania, Italy, USSR. It wasn't just Germany.

fucking zionist hang yourself

>He didn't attribute this idea to Jews however

Yes, he did. He called it "Jewish science" which is what he always did when confronted with inconvenient facts.

>that quote
as much of a stormcuck meme as French tanks have more reverse gears than forward

Why are you asking Veeky Forums when you have the answer in his own words? He invaded the east to secure living space for the German people.

>"Polish Atrocities in Danzig" is 99.99% made up

Yeah so was the holocaust.

You could make a case that ALL countries are expansionistic to some extent. However, there is a key difference, and that is willingness to take risks. The Soviets were very cautious in their expansionism. Stalin only attacked when he was absolutely confident that a quick, easy victory could be obtained. Whereas Hitler gambled his entire country on the idea that he could find a way to beat France, Britain, the USA, and the USSR, all at the same time, with help from only Italy.

But initially Poland wasn't in that land.

The Danzig Crisis Timeline

24 Oct 1938 Joachim von Ribbentrop met with Polish ambassador Józef Lipski at Berchtesgaden in southern Germany. During the meeting, he noted that Danzig was German and Germany wanted to see it back within German borders. He also noted that Germany wanted to build a highway and a railway through western Poland to connect East Prussia with the main German territory, and that Germany would like to have Poland join the Anti-Comintern Pact.
31 Oct 1938 Poland noted to the Germans that Danzig was to remain independent, and that Poland was not interested in signing the Anti-Comintern Pact.
24 Nov 1938 Adolf Hitler ordered his top military leaders to prepare plans for the invasion of the Free City of Danzig, but careful to include that it was not to include war with Poland.
5 Jan 1939 Adolf Hitler met Polish Foreign Minister Józef Beck at Berchtesgaden in southern Germany and, in a friendly manner, mentioned that Danzig was German, and it was in his interest to one day see it return within German borders.

Never mind, you're right. He of course later blames the Jews for placing this idea in the minds of the German people.

He didn't want war with britain nor the us you fucking idiot

26 Jan 1939 Joachim von Ribbentrop arrived in Warsaw, Poland and spoke to Polish leaders regarding the German wish to annex Danzig and to have Poland sign the Anti-Comintern Pact.
21 Mar 1939 French President Albert Lebrun visited London, England, United Kingdom. British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain attempted to persuade Lebrun to enter into a British-French-Polish alliance to contain Germany; a similar proposal was also sent to the Polish leadership via the British ambassador in Warsaw, Poland, but the Polish responded coolly. On the same day, in Berlin, Germany, German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop expressed that if Poland continued to not agree with German demands for Danzig and if Poland continued to resist signing the Anti-Comintern Pact, then the present German-Polish friendship would deteriorate.
22 Mar 1939 Poland requested consultations with United Kingdom and France regarding German demands for Danzig. United Kingdom and France expressed willingness to go further than mere consultation and suggested a formal treaty.

Here is your "Source."

25 Mar 1939 German intelligence chief Wilhelm Canaris reported to Adolf Hitler that his agents had detected Polish troop movements on the Polish border with Danzig. Hitler met with Army chief Walther von Brauchitsch regarding this latest development in his attempt to acquire Danzig.
28 Mar 1939 Polish Foreign Minister Józef Beck met with the German Ambassador in Poland that any further demand on Danzig by Germany might result in war between Poland and Germany.
30 Mar 1939 British Ambassador in Poland Howard Kennard offered Poland a British-French-Polish agreement in which the three countries would mutually guarantee each others' borders; this agreement arose from the build-up of tension between Germany and Poland over Danzig. The Soviet Union was purposely excluded from the negotiations per Polish demands.
31 Mar 1939 British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain noted that the United Kingdom and France would guarantee Polish borders, with military force if necessary.

Shouldn't have invaded Poland then.

Yes, massacres were taking place against German minorities in Danzig. You can read about it here: jrbooksonline.com/polish_atrocities.htm

shouldn't have bothered the ethnic germans then

>Stalin only attacked when he was absolutely confident that a quick

Lmao is that why he attacked Finland for no reason and got his ass handed to him by snownigger mongoloids with outdated rifles?

Ever played the board game diplomacy? Germany had the worst strategic position of any country in Europe. If Germany doesn't strike first and aggressively it gets surrounded and starved. Yes hitler started the war, but if he hadn't the countries around him would have killed him economically or militarily sooner or later.

Hitler shouldn't have invaded Poland, but Poland was being a dick. It's like if someone makes a joke about your mom and you punch them in the face. Yeah it was an overwarranted reavtion, but they were kinda being a dick.

Shut the fuck up this why you can't have serious conversations with jews

Everything I said is correct and you respond with this meme reply

This. The British fucking told Hitler that invading Poland would mean war. They even gave him one last chance on the day of the invasion to call the thing off, and he refused. So, while of course Hitler did not want war with Britain, he was given full warning that war would happen, and he proceeded with the invasion of Poland anyway.

But those little countries didn't matter even if they rearmed. Who cares? What were they gonna do, attack Germany? No. And on the one in a thousand chance that they did, they wouldn't get far. The important countries for Germany to watch out for were France, the UK, and the USSR. And French and British populations were still very war-weary from WW1 — even had their governments wanted war, it would have taken a herculean effort to get the public on board. Meanwhile Stalin had Poland in between his armies and Germany, and trying to go west would have been difficult for his armies (which, as the Finnish war and 1941 revealed, were not very competent) plus would have risked France and Britain jumping in to defend Eastern Europe. So Stalin was also unlikely to attack, and if he did attack, Soviet armies were unlikely to seriously menace Germany.

Basically, Germany had almost nothing to worry about as far as being attacked by other nations went. WW2 was truly a war of choice on Hitler's part, and attempts to argue otherwise don't hold up.

You should pick heroes who were actually successful at the things they tried to do. Just a suggestion.

so wanting to get rid of international jewry is made up now.
Good heavens you are a fucking brainwashed shill.

Idk if you knew this, but Poland is in between Russia and Germany.

Germany doesn't need to attack anything, it has Europe largest, and in 1939, tied for best educated population. With some agricultural reforms Germany can be completely self sufficient, as it is today. It has cultural ties to Switzerland, Austria, the Low Countries, and Denmark. The only reason Germany is diplomatically isolated is because of Kaiser Wilhelm II's idiotic diplomacy.

Germany could have been in a position of Continental dominance, with even better positioning if it never engaged in the naval arms race with Britain.

>so wanting to get rid of international jewry is made up now.

Yes, it is. Sorry if the complicated reality of geopolitics doesn't mesh well with your "DA JOOS DID IT" conspiracy nonsense.

I don't know if you know this but hitler attended Pilsudski's funeral

>hiding behind the geopolitics meme
I know who you are shlomo but come on now
He wanted to get rid of the elite scheming jewry.
Sadly Poland fucked shit up

Not compeltely true, in Mein Kampf he says his hatred for Jews came from their involvement in the newspapers and media in Austria. Then he began to notice it "everywhere"

>Hitler died to save us from the Polish menace

RIP BIG GUY. 1889 - 1945.

Germany in 1939 was being politically and diplomatically isolated by England, France and Poland. Chamberlain was on his way out and mad Warhawks like Churchill were on their way in.

England France and Poland together are much larger than Germany, and were rearming much faster.

If Hitler had done nothing, in a few years Poland would have eradicated ethnic Germans from the polish corridor and hitler would be defenceless as the England-France-Poland coalition could easily destroy him by then or simply just blockade him and starve him.

He had to do something, doing nothing meant defeat, and Poland refused to negotiate on the issue and was being aggressive.

If he didn't attack Poland he would have been screwed anyway. He took the gamble and lost.

*from the jewish menace*
I only said Poland because he invaded them due to their treatment of germans after much pleas of handing Danzig over.
He wouldn't have had any problems with them in the long run.

>Germany in 1939 was being politically and diplomatically isolated by England, France and Poland.

Because everybody knew at that point that Hitler was very bad news.

>Chamberlain was on his way out and mad Warhawks like Churchill were on their way in.

Because Chamberlain's soft approach had failed, so a tougher sheriff was needed to maintain order.

>in a few years Poland would have eradicated ethnic Germans from the polish corridor

[citation desperately needed]

There was no Danzig massacre. Stop being so fucking stupid. Where did this garbage even came from? Certainly not Nazi propaganda.

zionist warmongering sheriff
hmm I don't know if that is within the borders of the sheriff's duties

See If hitler did nothing he would have been stomped. Poland was being militarily aggressive, and trying to cleanse the polish corridor of Germans to ruin any future referendum. Poland refuses to negotiate on the Danzig issue. Poland had annexed part of Slovakia.

If Hitler had sat and done nothing, eventually France-England-Poland would have gotten too strong, he would be a sitting duck and they could easily blockade him into submission or trounce him in a military conflict on two fronts.

He tried to negotiate with Poland, they refused, what was he supposed to do? Would you let a declared enemy keep getting stronger on your border and killing people of your ethnicity? What should he have done?

Poland by itself was incapable of defeating Germany and would have been insane to try. And why would France and Britain have attacked? Like I said before, the French and British populations were very war-weary after WW1. The last thing they would have been up for would be attacking Germany. Give me a realistic scenario of how France and/or Britain attack Germany if Germany never attacks Poland and instead, plays nice. How do the governments sell the war to the people?

>Poland was being militarily aggressive

[citation needed]

>trying to cleanse the polish corridor of Germans to ruin any future referendum

[citation needed]

Why was hitler bad news? Why not any of the other countries? Britain was much more of a threat to world peace. Germany had the right to have whatever government it wants. They picked a government the Jews and their allies didn't like, so they started trying to pick fights with Hitler.

Chamberlains soft approach had failed what? To keep letting Czechs kill and persecute Germans in Sudetenland ?

There is not a word about Danzig massacre there. I know you stormfags are dumb and uneducated, but Bromberg is not Danzig.

Not an argument

>so they started trying to pick fights with Hitler.
Huh? They let Hitler take Czechoslovakia and Austria without lifting a finger. Then finally, when he went for country #3, they intervened. "started trying to pick fights with Hitler", my ass.

You know that after Munich Hitler invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia just few months later.

>Why was hitler bad news?

Because he was attacking other countries, not to mention persecuting innocent minorities within Germany.

>Germany had the right to have whatever government it wants.

Yeah, and so did Poland. Unfortunately, Hitler couldn't respect that, so he had to go.

Hitler partitioned Poland again with soviets he didn't just invade but engaged to euro politics that decided Poland must be partitioned

>To keep letting Czechs kill and persecute Germans in Sudetenland
Why do Germans keep getting persecuted in all these countries? Maybe they're like the Jews everyone hates?

As I said, Churchill was pushing for an attack on Germany since the 30's and he was getting more power and influence. Selling a war to a population is a moot point, the Brits will flllow whatever war their government tells them to.

And it's not just a matter of Britain and Poland just march into Germany one day, it's s matter of making Germany into such a weak strategic position they can be bullied on the economic field, their allies and trading partners taken from them. Germany was dependent on trade and if Churchill decides to say "were going to reinforce Versailles treaty and blockade imports and economically isolate you until you do" Germany would have been screwed and would have collapsed.

He wouldn't be politically and diplomatically isolated at all if he hadn't

> Flaunted Versailles and canceled war reparations
> Broke every arms limitation treaty
> Annexed Austria
> Annexed Sudetenland, promising it was the last piece of land Germany wanted
> Annexed/partitioned rest of Czechoslovakia
> Annexed Memel
> spent ~20% of Germany's GDP on military for the past 6 years

Literally dindu tier.

Hitler also forced Lithuania to give up Klaipeda in March 1939.

Nice reading comprehension kikefag

With raised hands we stood about one hour against a wall, after our pockets had been searched. After that a group of about 100 persons, mostly well-known citizens of the town, were driven out into the street and, under guard, we had to go through the Danzig-Elisabeth Strasse up to the barracks at the station all the time with raised hands. On the way the beasts threatened us with swords, daggers and axes; they spat on us and beat us -the poor boys could hardly go farther. There were several of these boys among us. In the riding-stable a platform was erected; "All come up here"-we were the first. There were still more coming-in-many fathers with their sons, and, at last, when it was getting dark, there were about 400 of us. They were all calm, quiet, but with courage in their eyes. A sudden enervation set in only when an intelligent man of about 20 years moved six steps away from us. He was pushed back with a bayonet, w

Yeah and so did the German minorities in Poland who asked to join the Reich. Unfortunately Poles couldn't accept that so they had to get blitzkreig.

So, where is this massacre? Who was massacred by whom and when? And I hope you know that the police in Danzig was German, same with the government.

your arguments aren't favouring you just so you know and I'm not the one you were responding to.

That's why he attacked the ussr : to avoid fighting a two front war.

You are a fucking moron. It's all about Bromberg and it's from 3, September. Danzig Strasse means Danzig (it actually should be Danziger) Street.

You are literally a bigger liar than Nazi propaganda. How does it feel?

He only wanted fucking Danzig where the germans were the majority. What is so hard to understand here?
And why would a foreign power go after the will of germans left out by an unfair peace treaty?

And Austria, and Sudetenland and Czech part of Czechoslovakia and Klaipeda.

According to the 1931 census there were around 740,000 German speakers living in Poland (2.3% of the population). Their minority rights were protected by the Little Treaty of Versailles. The right to appeal to the League of Nations however was renounced in 1934, officially due to Germany's withdrawal from the League after Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933.

Austria willingly and happily joined.
Sudetenland were thoroughly german. Who wouldn't be mad when a large chunk of your population is cut away? And the czechs were a protectorate

>A person speaks German
>This automatically means they support Hitler

>the right to appeal the League of Nations came from the german speaking non german community

(3) How tragic is the case of Vicar Reder of Mogilno, who at the time of his order for internment was on holiday in Zoppot, so that he had ample opportunity for flight. In spite of this he obeyed the order, so as to be together with the members of his parish and his co-internees during the days of trouble. He was shot down with a pistol by the Commandant of the railway station of Glodno and after receiving several blows with the butt of a rifle he was given the "coup de grâce" by Polish Military guard (OKW. HS. Ins. Br. 80).

over the frontiers of the Reich and to Danzig; in spite of repeated Polish statements to the effect that in case of war all Germans would be murdered and all German farms would be burnt down, most of the Germans stuck to their homes and possessions, part of which had been acquired or inherited from former settlements or by honest purchase, hundreds of years ago, because they themselves could not believe that the menaces of murder would ever be carried out. What was the reason for all classes of Poles participating in the excesses committed against Germans? Why did that portion of the Polish population which for years had lived in harmony with their German neighbours in town and country hardly lift a hand to protect Germans exposed to lawlessness? Why did Poles, without the slightest reason, attack the one or other German -- known or unknown to them --, why were they willing to take part in these indescribable atrocities? The answer to all this is that all action against Germans had been carefully planned beforehand; it had been definitely ordered. The question arises: could not Christian and religious principles in such a devoutly Catholic country have proved sufficient to ensure a moral and disciplinary bulwark against such wanton excesses? On the contrary, the massacre of Protestant clergy, the destruction of Protestant rectories, the burning and

Not that guy, but didn't the Free City of Danzig elect NSDAP?

rightful cimbri clay

Keep in mind that the Nazis would never have allowed any of the absorbed territories to hold new referendums and leave. Imagine being one of the Austrians who DIDN'T want to join Germany, dragged by your idiot pro-German countrymen into an assimilation that the German regime had zero intention of ever allowing to be put up to further democratic process.

Which of these quotes that prove Churchill was getting powerful in Britain during pre-WW2? Different user, by the way.

And again, nothing about Danzig. Mogilno and Glodno weren't even a part of the Free City. Even German propaganda doesn't mention Danzig massacre. Stop spreading this nonsense.

And it's pretty fucking pathetic how you believe every Goebbels' word. Apparently only German propaganda accounts are reliable, we all know that Hitler was a very trustworthy guy.
