It's established fact that eastern and Central Europe rapidly began to develop after 1989, in almost all measurable categories. The sad thing is how long countries like Hungary, Poland, and Czechoslovakia were trapped and held against their will as early as 1956/1960s
If you think it was legitimately good, ask yourself why even the first step towards liberalization with perestroika and glasnost completely collapsed that part of the world? Why was soviet communism hated so much?
