That's the first time I have seen someone express that observation aside from me. Looking historically, no African nation has ever reached any sort of civilization, and the friendly, non-challenging climate can be attributed to their lack of growth, evolvment or progress of any kind.

There's no reason for them not to. There wasn't even any reason for them to have agriculture until we showed up and started vaccinating them. Sub-Saharan Africa is incredibly fertile and productive, and food is always available, there was never a need to develop beyond thinking of the now. They never had to plan for winter or even the next day, and their native languages reflect this by not having words to describe the passage of time -- in the cases where those words do exist, they were added after colonization. Even when Africans adopt other languages, they often use them in such a way that hints at a lack of understanding with regards to the passage of time. Abstract concepts, like a "promise", completely elude them in their European meaning, which makes sense in this context as a "promise" requires an understanding of the future.

It's all very simple and should be obvious to anyone who isn't brainwashed otherwise.

I've seen some cool options for solar water heaters that you hang outside of your kitchen window. I've also seen people make do-it-yourself versions. The water will never be super hot, but it will make cold water tolerable.

I think we are what we repeatedly do, and so I use hardship and stress to gain strength and wisdom.

What's the point of living without hardship? To die slightly older? For the weakest to live and pass on their genes, so that more weak people will be born? Living simply to die doesn't sound like living to me -- and that's all an easy life really is, living to die.

They keep their bodies warm through their intelligence, which wouldn't exist without such needs. Intelligence didn't emerge in an air conditioned cubicle with unlimited food and porn, nor would it. Intelligence is primal, it's rooted in generations of adversity, it's killing power, it's the ability to live beyond the means that your body alone affords you.

The Flynn Effect is bullshit, because IQ tests aren't comparable across generations -- look at what people did, read their diaries, examine their accomplishments, understand their philosophies. The average American farmer in the 1770s was not only physically and psychologically stronger than you, but could outperform you on any conceivable mental test, and they had a much quicker reaction times.

Assuming you're white, if you could meet one of your 6th-great-grandfathers, he would probably terrify you -- not only in presence and intensity, but in mental acuity; especially if he were an American.
