As is everything related to Poland, just a meme

great for cutting down cossacks, turks, and peasants

at least that's how it looked,

not so great against traitors and russia it seemed

they saved europe in 1683

enough to say

God damnit fuck history everything is a god damn meme when you actually learn about it fuck this

The wings could supposedly startle enemy horses, which weren't used to the sight.

I heard they could also fly with them.

Only those with Expert Air Magic.

Picrel, Klushino, Khotyn, and Lubieszów were their most important battles.

Depends. Poland occupied Moscow for 2 years.

AND THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED

>not vienna

meme meme meme meme

>HA HA HA LOOK MOM I POSTED IT AGAIN

>With the Battle of Lubiszew in 1577, the 'Golden Age' of the Husaria began. Between then and the Battle of Vienna in 1683, the Hussars fought many battles against various enemies, most of which they won. In the battles of Lubiszew in 1577, Byczyna (1588), Kokenhausen (1601), Kircholm (1605), Kłuszyn (1610), Chocim (1621), Martynów (1624), Trzciana (1629), Ochmatów (1644), Beresteczko (1651), Połonka (1660), Cudnów (1660), Chocim (1673), Lwów (1675), Vienna (1683), and Párkány (1683), they proved to be the decisive factor against often overwhelming odds. For instance, in the Battle of Kluszyn during the Polish–Muscovite War, the Russians outnumbered the Commonwealth army 5 to 1, yet were heavily defeated.

It's useless to discuss anything slavs related on Veeky Forums because this board is heavily biased against them some of the abhorrent claims I've noticed so far
>slavs never had any religion
>in Kievan Rus slavs were exploited by vikings
>Zhukov, the guy who wanted the troops to fall back to get into more advantegous position is memed as being a zerg rush lover, it was retard Stalin who said ''lol no fuck it XD'' and can be blamed for unnecessary deaths
>slavs never won against germanics
>slavs are not white because of mongol invasion
>however germanics despite being raped by Huns are
>russian dicking in Berlin didn't affect their genetic make up either, let's ignore the fact that after WWII german birth rates skyrocketed
>every slavic scientist was not actually slavic
>all slavs share the same culture
>all slavs are russian

Apart from the wings, I don't see what's false about this archetype.

what

>le wings were used only for ceremonies meme
the guy who actually fought at Vienna confirmed the usage of wings and so did Sebastian Cefali, Francois Paul D’Alerac, Karol Ogier, Steinhauser and Jędrzej Kitowicz

what were the wings for? they look badass but was there any actual purpose?

They look cool, and that's important in an environment as emotionally charged as a battlefield. It's like the masks and armor of samurai that make them look like onis. In the heat of close combat on a sprawling battlefield, seeing some fucker with wings riding down on you like an angel of the Lord could cause you to panic, or at least hesitate for a fatal second.

Scaring enemy horses

>russian dicking in Berlin didn't affect their genetic make up either, let's ignore the fact that after WWII german birth rates skyrocketed
So German birth rates skyrocketed because of the Russian D?

they rattled and made a huge sound say some sources

They are a symbol of Poland (the white eagle) and were a source of patriotism say others

They were distinguishing marks that let the enemy know that the undefeated polish heavy cavalry were about to charge them (more psychological stuff) say yet more

I think it was a combination of all of these, also they look really cool.

birth rates skyrocketed because battle weary soldiers got home and got to fuck their girlfriends for the first time in years, just like in the US, UK, and Russia.

However, there has to be surviving men to do that.

France lost so many men in WW1 that repopulating was hard afterwards.

They came down the mountain side. Apparently they also turned the tide. Death from above, an army of kings they were.

We remember, in September, when the winged hussars arrived.

>he used all the lyrics instead of letting us do a chain
user wtf

lots of sabaton today

lol k

>they rattled and made a huge sound say some sources
Which ones. It's more likely modern meme, fact concluded by some retards. Similar example would be
>wings protected from back attacks
but winged hussars were protected by cuirass, so it's taken from modern misconception, that armour never protected from anything.
>what were the wings for? they look badass but was there any actual purpose?
Scaring enemy horses. Horses are very skittish by nature, and you have to train them to not panick against every damn thing.
Scarring people - Again, every human will instinctively consider "bigger human" as greater threat. Cavalry charge is scary on it's own, but wings could further intensify it.
Deceiving enemy about numbers - most of the time Polish army was outnumbered, so wings could trick enemy into believing that there were more soldiers than it really was. They also used similar tricks with lances, by just sticking them into ground.
For Veeky Forums
And these were the major factors. Lesser one could be possibility of protection from arkans -Tatar's lassos used in battles.

They're for telling Infidels to fuck off from Europe, so that Poland could get stabbed in the back.

Sounds more like the good old cuck and rape fantasies that are loved by Veeky Forums so much.

most of the time they would sit back and let grunts fight until they enemy is weakened then the royalty hussars would do a sweep on the wounded/weakened foes for assurance of survival for family and fortune.
im not gonna call names, or be biased, thats what i heard.

also the real leroy jenkins was a hussar /Władysław III of Poland/

> the Polish king and his multi-ethnic subjects did not sense that this would be for many of them their final fight. Facing the desperate circumstance the king, seeing the experienced Hunyadi fight and break the Sipahi cavalry, decided to gamble and directly attack the sultan, who was protected by the guard cavalry and formidable Janissary infantry. The young king was killed while personally leading his own 500-strong royal Polish heavy cavalry company, his charge losing impetus and coming to a standstill amongst the unyielding Janissaries protecting the sultan. The Janissaries killed the king's bodyguard and beheaded Władysław, displaying his head on a pole. Disheartened by the death of their king, the Hungarian army fled the battlefield. Neither the king's body nor his armor were ever found]

he, however, is a derp, the evidence is right in front of us

>most of the time they would sit back and let grunts fight until they enemy is weakened then the royalty hussars would do a sweep on the wounded/weakened foes for assurance of survival for family and fortune.
>im not gonna call names, or be biased, thats what i heard.
Totally untrue.Considering their role, it could be compared to
>In WW2 tanks rolled out only after rest of the army did breakthrough
As for the reasons:
Casualty rate for winged hussars was laughably low.
Service in Polish army wasn't mandatory. If any noble had problems with heirs, all he had to do was not to volunteer.
In fact, it was quite the opposite, and Polish army started to rely on winged hussars to much, and that ended in few lost battles. For example in battle of Warsaw they were left without any support.

Attacking fortified positions for few hours, while being vastly outnumbered is not something
>I am here for easy victories and spoils
guys would do.

28224977 nice dubbbs and ok that battle is a good point, but maybe the hussars have had times where there ranks have been g00d and b@d bcause, and the low death rate u claim can feed to this, the fact they were all nobles they would have times of being the reserve unit, it just makes sense, but the battle u linked, while they did g00d those hussars were used because they had to be, im not calling them shitty fighters im just saying they werent always the ones saving the day, due to their royal background compared to catagorising a unit purely 4 its training nd equiptment like someone could more effectively dooooooo

they weren't the reserve unit they were literally the main fighting force and once hussars ceased to exist so did Poland

poland still exists, and no, idont believe that polands entire military was only comprised of nobles and horses with polearms, even if you gave them different weapons having the armor restriction [must have super exspensive winged armor] puts a hefty tax own a country and would neuder flexibitly nd numbers nd i dont beleive they did it like that

>winged armor
wings were usually attached to saddles not armor you retard

u just keep dismissing what i say and just picking little thing that dont matter, im sorry does that make your useless wings any less exspensive?

COMING DOWN TO TURN THE TIED

>and the low death rate u claim can feed to this, the fact they were all nobles they would have times of being the reserve unit
>due to their royal background
Polish army was made entirely out of nobles, except registered Cossacks or German mercs in some campaigns
>idont believe that polands entire military was only comprised of nobles and horses with polearms
It basically was. Even infantry was using horses (dragoons)
Bathory tried to use peasants (piechota wybraniecka), but it didn't work out, and formation was soon disbanded
>even if you gave them different weapons
You know that restriction
>one weapon per soldiers
doesn't exist? Basic weapons of every winged hussar were:
>Lances provided by Kingdom (for standardization),
>saber
>nadziak(warhammer)
>koncerz (something like 1handed estoc)
>2 to 6 pistols
>musket when fighting on foot
