The whole point of a signature is that it's a highly stylized version of your name that functions as your unique symbol, and will be easily distinguishable from someone else writing your name in cursive, so that it's difficult to defraud you by forging your signature on a document.

It's kinda obsolete in the age of digital photography and photoshop, but it worked for centuries and remains the tradition of how you sign something.
