Did Masada really happen?

Did Masada really happen?

no the romans built a massive ramp up onto an empty plateau to fuck with future historians lmao

>According to Kenneth Atkinson, there is no "archaeological evidence that Masada's defenders committed mass suicide."[20]

According to Josephus. So if you accept historical Jesus, you accept Masada.

What exactly would constitute archeological evidence either way of a group of cultists committing mass suicide?

>its another Jewish centric thread
Can we stop wanking to them for a day?

Josephus never mentioned Jesus tho, that passage is an obvious later forgery by a typically dishonest Christian.

hide the fucking thread cuck.

>Did Masada really happen?

Most likely, yes. It made sense. The Sicarii were literal terrorists, and maybe the first religious extremist assassins of all time. The whole "archeological" evidence thing is irrelevant IMO because why would there be any for a mass suicide? We can't definitively say all the details are right, but considering how crazy they were it made sense. Either be killed and enslaved by the Romans, or kill your family and have one kill themselves (suicide is prohibited, so they killed each other) and be in Heaven for eternity. One of the first religious death cults for sure.

>t. fedora

>implying that means anything

It most likely happened, it makes more sense for it to have happened then for it not to have happened.

a lot of exit bags

So, to your logic people are always right or always wrong. They always lie or they always tell the truth. And they never make a mistake either way.

Nah, the Jews just held out in a fortress versus no one and killed themselves for no reason.

>the first religious extremist assassins of all time
Wasn´t there that guy in the jewish temple that destroyed it while still being inside?

Samson, sure, but he's purely biblical AFAIK.

Anyone got some historical evidence for him?

They literally found lots with the names of people who Josephus mentions on them.

Nothing that isn't a meme or purely speculative, but if you go to the candle store in Safed you can see some pretty dank wax sculptures of him.

Veeky Forums is a Jewish board.

Good post.

>golden calfs: Haram
>Warhammer miniatures? a-ok!

he is talking about the name tags and mass suicide

global rule 3

this makes sense

Yes

Don't forget Ehud!

15 Again the Israelites cried out to the Lord, and he gave them a deliverer—Ehud, a left-handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite. The Israelites sent him with tribute to Eglon king of Moab. 16 Now Ehud had made a double-edged sword about a cubit long, which he strapped to his right thigh under his clothing.
17 He presented the tribute to Eglon king of Moab, who was a very fat man.
18 After Ehud had presented the tribute, he sent on their way those who had carried it.
19 But on reaching the stone images near Gilgal he himself went back to Eglon and said, “Your Majesty, I have a secret message for you.” The king said to his attendants, “Leave us!” And they all left.
20 Ehud then approached him while he was sitting alone in the upper room of his palace and said, “I have a message from God for you.” As the king rose from his seat,
21 Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king’s belly.
22 Even the handle sank in after the blade, and his bowels discharged. Ehud did not pull the sword out, and the fat closed in over it.
23 Then Ehud went out to the porch; he shut the doors of the upper room behind him and locked them.
24 After he had gone, the servants came and found the doors of the upper room locked. They said, “He must be relieving himself in the inner room of the palace.” 25 They waited to the point of embarrassment, but when he did not open the doors of the room, they took a key and unlocked them. There they saw their lord fallen to the floor, dead.

What does that mean
