National Stereotypes

British have the stiff upper-lip and Spaniards are fiery and emotional but iirc the Spanish used to be stereotyped as solemn and pious.

What other stereotypes have there been? Ottomans, Germans, etc.

Germans are burgers.

These actually used to change a lot, you'll laugh but Germany was once seen as emotional and romantic while the French were cold and distant

requesting the new age shitpost table from habsburgs that describe nations

The turks are cockroaches.

The ruskies are depressed iron men

The greeks are hobbos

The germans are autistic robots.

I remember that chart. All Europeans were on it described in various ways plus Turks.

This one?

I love that English fashion is "French" but frenchmen are "changeable"

>Polish mind: not paying attention
>Russian mind: non-existent
>Hungarian mind: even less than Pole

>Spaniards love: honor

>Germans love: drinking
>Turks love: themselves

>German disease: gout
>English disease: tuberculosis
>French disease: syphilis

>Spaniard ruler: Monarch
>German ruler: Emperor
>Englishman ruler: changing every day

Somethings never change

Geez, some one has a crush with Spaniards.

>Turkish disease: impotence

Spain

French:
>Science: Warfare
>Loves: war
>Virtues: malicious
>Death: in war

The French were stereotyped as very battle-hungry. How times change.

They were Veeky Forums as fuck

>Implying you dont

The only ones than see French as not battle/hungry are USA and a few nations than have a crush with them, like Japan. They are war mongers, only not at the level of the united states.

>Turks
Plenty of
>Soft things
>Turks disease

Are they related?

French cowardice is a British meme.

SISSY BRITBOIS

My sides, holds true to this day.

>British

People here absolutely love to complain lad, that attitude is long gone

Scottish stereotypes are interesting because they seem to turn on their head so often

In the 17th century Scots were often thought of as being extravagant and wasteful, probably due to the spending habits of King James VI/I, but nowadays they're thought of as being very thrifty and stingy with their money, to the point where Scots and Jews are often interchanged in jokes in some countries, and of course you have pop culture elements like Scrooge McDuck

Also interesting is that nowadays people think of Scots as being very boisterous and rowdy, whereas the stereotype in the 17th century, particularly the late 17th century, was that they were very plain and quiet

It's funny because it's true. Most of the traps/faggots/furries that post on Veeky Forums seem to come from Britain.
The usual /v/ homo steamfriend thread tends to have at least a couple

Thanks for chiming in, resident furry/homo expert

What can I say, I'm a big fan of boipussy.

Spanish changed because of American cultural hegemony

That's because their faith changed
It used to be quiet Presbyterian meetings with no hint of 'idolatry' now it's a FEMALE first minister welcoming refugees by the boat load (they're basically Rohm's version of the nazis

Portuguese are now despicted as melancholic even more so compared to Spaniards, but when Philip II of Spain became king of Portugal too the Spaniards on his entourage find shocking the colourfulness and vitality of the Portuguese (compared with that of the Castilian/Spaniards).

Tbf Castile was no fun allowed the region.

Acording to Baber "it´s a shame that the bling of the Burgundian chivalry has blind us for to long to the richness of the Castilian one" or something like that.

Richard Barber*

Dump your images on /hm and use this post as a screen cap

Because this was written in the 17th century when the nation was not very stable at all

Yeah.Castilian society valued austerity above anything else.Even the nobility and merchants dressed with very poor clothing. When Ferdinand went to Castile for the first time he thought that the country was on some kind of mourning. The Castilians had tons of problems with the Flemish when they arrived to Spain with Phillip the fair and Charles the V as they were very lustful and spent a lot

The Anglo is Cunning/Treacherous
The German is Fierce/Brutal
The Frenchman is Cultured/Snobbish
The Italian is Charismatic/Flamboyant
The Spaniard is Pious/God fearing
The Greek is Relaxed/Lazy
The American is Fun/Hedonistic
The Portuguese is Daring/Rash
The Scandinavian is Kind/Passive
The Slav is Strong/Rough
The Romanian is Thrifty/Thief

Any more and please correct me I'm just guessing.

Why is that guy wearing a skirt

>french

Make up your mind

(Catholic) French and Modern French are two disctinct races

Barber´s point was that Castilian chivalry has been ignored for a very long time while it is pretty dazzling by itself.
