>What went wrong
your mother didn't have an abortion

Stavka thought its gutted officer core and poorly trained as well as inadequately equipped military could fight Deep Battle in Eastern Finland, a land full of forests, swamps, chest-deep snows and only a few serviceable roads.

To be realistic, its just hard to invade
unless the person you are invading has a country that is just a colossal mattress that is constantly room temperature.

Lol the soviets won. Look it up

tfw no qt swamps to chill with here

>a pitbull gets in a fight with a pug and kills it only after losing both of its back legs and is bleeding out

the pit won haha

Finland never lost independence, so in a way the pug didnt die.

>russia has karelia

>trump is in the white house
>b-but muh popular vote

what do finns or rus have to do with trump mr cancer?
And yeah, i mean it only meant just throwing Russians frivolously into the fire until it burned out, like you guys do to solve every problem,
only peace of mind i get out of it is that you then most be aware of the russian infantry's value or lack thereof

Womans always can rise more children, you mong. Land is still russian.

They achieved 1/10th of their goal even tho they had a 10 times bigger army.
Cant really say it was successful.

Fins signed the peace treaty because they ran out of ammo.

1/10? They wanted smaller piece of land than they've got. And they offered bigger piece of land to trade. Soviets wanted buffer zone against nazis and they got it. Successful it is.

>And yeah, i mean it only meant just throwing Russians frivolously
They were Ukrainians, user. And now you see the brilliancy of Stalin's plan.

What about the prewar "gotta help our poor finnish comrades" bullshit? The Soviet wanted to occupy finland and make it join the union just like every other country on the russian border. They got Petsamo, Karjala and Viipuri. Nothing we cant live without.

>"gotta help our poor finnish comrades"
Finns were never comrades to soviets.
> The Soviet wanted to occupy finland
That's just finns imagination. Why the hell soviets would want another frozen shithole. They only wanted it's parts to defend againts nazis, that's all.

>the war works out
haha we military superpower
>the war doesnt work out
joke is on you. we not wanted that shithole anyway

>"we took this land to defend against Nazis"
>war ends up costing a third of a million troops and directly results in the Finns siding with the Nazis adding another half-million troops to the German cause

what did the Soviets mean by this.

But it woked out, mate. Soviets got MORE than they wanted. They offered honest trade, but finns were stubborn nazi lovers, so soviets got that land by force. Human power can be restored anyway, but land is still russian.
>b-but soviets wanted the whole Finland!
That's wrong. They asked piece of land, and they stopped war after they got this piece of land.

If you think that Soviet Russia wanted to occupy land temporarily, you're a very unique kind of stupid.

Soviets lost because they acted like a twelve year old and thought war was all about who has the best gunz n tankz an other toys. If they had focused more on boring but neccesary stuff like logistics, reconnaissance, and their chain of command they could have done much better.

>but finns were stubborn nazi lovers
Yeah, I can only imagine why they wouldn't want to cooperate with the Soviets.

Here's a very interesting lecture that explains in detail what the Soviets did wrong to end up with such an incredible outcome.
youtube.com/watch?v=xUl4C0VvN5k

now its more accurate, it was the Finns who sued for peace not the Soviets

and also, you know, not invading a sub-arctic country in winter

Yes, they wanted buffers, but they would have taken more if they could, and control over Finland would have been a nice bonus. They even had a puppet to put in place, and there was that whole thing (possibly apocryphal) about instructions to not accidentally invade Sweden.

The aftermath of the Winter War worked both ways when it came to Nazi Germany. It convinced them that the USSR would be utterly unprepared to defend against an invasion which all things considered, was true to some extent, and that the time was right to strike. However, the Germans themselves severely overestimated their own military prowess, and failed to appreciate how this may not be applicable against a far larger opponent, without the aid of Western Europe's extensive infrastructure of roads and rail.

All told, the Winter War was a pyrrhic victory for the USSR in that they achieved their territorial goals, but the fact remains that its outcome essentially forced them into war with Germany far more quickly than the Soviets would have liked.

Meme, did not exist.

>allied with literal war crime nation because bad soviets bullied them
Pathetic
There is literally no reasons to occupy Finland. And soviets could occupy it instead of signing peace. It was goodwill gesture by soviets to not do that.
>Winter War was a pyrrhic victory
The whole russian history is pyrrhic victory, my man.

Reminder that the Soviets suffered more tanks damaged or destroyed than the Germans had tanks period in the entire Battle of France.

>allied with literal war crime nation because bad soviets bullied them

>Bully your neighbor
>What the fuck! Why do you align yourself against me?!
Russian diplomatic mastery.

That was preventive measures, they should understand that. Any rational nation would.
