Nice straw man, I was talking about the Austrian people, not the kingdom/empire/nation (which btw was part of the HRE, which was a forerunner of the German nation) they reside in. Also I hope you realise that the idea of one German people is older than Germany( the modern nation state).
When the idea of German unification became popular, Austria was one of two states that was vying for the role as unifier of the German people, the other one being Prussia.
This is all quite common knowledge, but I suppose you're not that interested in history.
