What are some top notch history documentarys out there?
Also what makes a good history documentary besides low-bias and respect for facts.

The only way people consider if a documentary is top notch or not is if it fits their perceived narrative.
>documentarys
yeah, we can tell you dont read.
English isnt my native langauge my man, calm the autism.
In a likelihood English is not his first written language.
Much to our "benefit," this website is quite international in its scope.
Most works by Adam Curtis
Century of the Self (recommend this one first)
Bitterlake
Power of Nightmares
Hypernormalization
bump
World at War
The best WW2 documentary I've ever seen, I'm not sure how well known it is outside of bongland but everybody should see it
It's very easy to find a torrent for it, it really sucks you in
Ascent of Man is good also
1970s BBC documentaries are golden
wanker
This.
Some guy couple of weeks ago in a similar thread recommended Spanish civil war. Also made by BBC. It is awesome.
Thanks user great, bookmarked it, I've been looking for something like this for a while
You are welcome my man.
Civilisation is another good one, originally it was developed as a showpiece for colour television back in 1969 but it really stands the test of time
Both Civilisation and Ascent of Man were developed by David Attenborough interestingly
>Also what makes a good history documentary
Having no relationship with the History Channel
Those multi-part BBC ones are as top notch as it gets.

no. These arent historical docs, they are basically opinion pieces on current events.
I say this as someone who loves Adam Curtis' work
>Three months until Ken Burns Vietnam
.
Anything on western religion?
Pretty much anything made in burgerland is trash
>title flashes, "ROMAN CONQUEST"
>immediate reenactment shot of roman soldier fighting lion, "GLADIATORS WERE THE BRAVEST SOLDIERS AROUND, JUST LIKE OUR TROOPS PROTECTING OUR FREEOM TODAY"
>shot of roman crowd cheering
>"THESE FEROCIOUS WARRIORS CONQUORED MOST OF THE WORLD, SUCH AS ISLAM, CHINA, AND ENGLAND"
>shot of roman consul waving to crowd behind camera
>"BU WHEN THE PRESIDENTAL ELECTIONS GOT REMOVED FOR A MONARCHY, THE PEOPLE WERE NOT HAPPY AND OVERTHREW THESE TYRANTS, JUST LIKE WE DID"
>shot of american colonial troops killing redcoats
>"THATS WHY THE ROMANS WERE THE STRONGEST COUNTRY EVER IN THE WORLD, AFTER US OF COURSE
forgot the 30 min ad breaks, we need to give revenue to (((producers))) of course
I've always been a fan of RT's hilariously biased documentaries. Yes, I know every documentary has a bias but this one has a special place in my heart.
>LITTLE DID THEY KNOW THAT THE SMELL OF BLOOD WAS JUST AS SICKENINGLY SWEET
What a coincidence. I'm listening to Ceephax right now.
i liked their kazakhstan one
YOU KNOW WHAT THE WORLD IS MISSING?
Historical Documentary Dramas.
So far we have either purely factual documentaries with pretty pictures, old footage and shit like that.
If we do have a historical drama its about a person at the top, a king, a general, never anything less.
Nowhere do we have anything that really portrays what it was like in that time for the average person.
With a Historical Drama Documentary you get to experience life for the average person and you cannot get more engrossing than that.
This is an international board dont be a dick
As much as I love the USA and our movies, I have to agree that for the most part our historical documentaries are trash. and least from the """history""" channel. Its all just rock music and shit reenactments
It's gonna be great tbqh kiddo too bad it's in September
