inglorious basterds although it's not really accurate.
the quiet american is also interesting.

Copenhagen.

Inglourious Basterds is an interesting film to me because any one scene from it - seriously, any 10-minute segment - plays like a fucking masterpiece. I was so excited for the rest of the movie after watching the first segment. But the movie overall doesn't hang together very well, something's off with the pacing. It's like 5 fucking fantastic short films with no momentum or narrative cohesion connecting them.

One thing I will say is that Tarantino does food porn like nobody else. That movie never fails to make me want a glass of scotch, strudel and espresso, or a tall glass of milk.

Passion of the Christ

The Last Emperor

>tfw you know a guy who was in this movie

Bazza Lyndon

Lawrence of Arabia

not a film but the John Adams miniseries that HBO did

and while it gets super tedious and is based around a fictional protage, (not to mention some stupid writing/plot directions cause of off-screen issues with actors), Boardwalk Empire is excellent in capturing the feel/vibe/look of America from the late 1910s to the 1930s

SS-GB

How I Unleashed World War II

Kingdom of Heaven is horribly inaccurate and does pander a bit to muslims, but fuck I love the setting and the actual siege.

As far as movies of specific historical events, the Longest Day.

As for Historically accurate fiction, the old Around the world in 80 days.

Tora Tora Tora

Enemy at the Gates was great too, albeit very Hollywood, and it's critical of the Soviets too so it pisses off the tankies.

100% accurate, about glorious socialist motherland

>It's like 5 fucking fantastic short films with no momentum or narrative cohesion connecting them.
Basically every Tarantino movie aside from Reservoir Dogs.

my nigga , based movie

no love scenes no token minorities , just pure history

Downfall

The Sun never sets on the British Empire.

Not an ounce of subversion in this masterpiece which was made right before the destruction of Anglo dominance.

Exactly why I loved it. It was straight to the point. Kinda like Black Hawk Down in a sense. It focused on portraying a very specific event to the upmost accuracy.

>no token minorities

They did have the one scene with the escaped slave but that actually was both true ("contraband" fleeing to Union lines became rampant almost as soon as the first shots were fired at Fort Sumter) and had played a significant role in the plot rather than being thrown in for no reason.

Was also Richard Jordan's final and finest performance.

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp

Second the last emperor made me fall in love with east Asian history

not a movie, but the hbo's "rome" is pretty goddamn amazing

"Hussite Trilogy" by Otakar Vávra
Jan Hus
Jan Žižka
Proti všem
Idealised and sometimes naive, but historically accurate

Battle scenes:

I was going to say The Patriot, but although America threw off the shackles of English oppression, Nigel continues to cruelly occupy colonies across the world, from Scotland to the Falklands and Gibraltar.

Fortress of War is great

Pretty Historically Accurate
>Patton
>Zulu
>Spartacus
>The Bridge on the River Kwai

Not Historically Accurate but Still Good
>The Man Who Would Be King
>Amadeus
>The Name of the Rose
>Quest for Fire
>Kingdom of Heaven (Directors Cut)

But it was a Scottish family that united the kingdoms...

Satyricon

> >2 hours of pure kino

> >2 hours of pure WTF!

> >2 hours of pure DECADENCY

> >2 hours of pure ROME
You will never see the Antiquity with the same eyes again.

memes aside

Downfall

Anyone know a good place to watch this? Cannot find it.

It comes on TCM from time to time.

> Cleopatra
> October: Ten Days that shook the world
> Burned by the Sun
> Enemy at the Gates
> Saving Private Ryan
> IP man

How has this not been mentioned yet?

Because it sucked

t. woman

Get the FUCK out.

Patton

American Graffiti

>That stupid scene where they devolve into melee combat.

Its basically Old School Soviet Prop with CGI.
