It feels good because I have empathy just like most of us and it confers better rewards in the long run for my offspring. It also helps me justify universal rules of helping the needy that could help me (or my offspring) in unforeseen circumstances. Being virtuous, even in small doses, is one of the things separating us from dysfunctional third world countries.
Why the fuck people always think about "aid for Africa" organizations as an example of doing good?! those organizations dont even have a positive effect for the people in the receiving end.

I'm already in Africa, and I when I do charity work I do it with my own two hands for a cause that I know is going to have a positive effect in the community in the long run, for the sake of my offspring.
