Hey guys I have a favor to ask...

Hey guys I have a favor to ask. This is one of the few decent coins that is down today and a good chunk of cash is hitting my GDAX tomorrow afternoon so can no one buy until I can scoop a bunch of monero? Thanks, means a lot

Go buy some teatokens or something

>b-buy my bags please

Is it me Veeky Forums or I just don't give a fuck about Monero. Anyone have the same feeling?

No that's the thing. No one care, no one buy. Seriously monero is going extinct and it's a useless coin... literally no better than digibyte

but it's the only truly private coin out there
too bad it's a bitch to mine

That's kind of the point.

>asic resistant
>still viable with GPU
>still viable with CPU

Bretty fucking good, if you ask me

ASICs ruin coins dude do you want a bunch of gooks to take all your money with penny electricity?

Think brother

Teatoken.io

Monero gave my computer Herpes.

Don't buy until after I get paid.

Simple, the price is too high to manipulate like penny shitcoins, and it's not so large yet that it's achieved the media prominence of BTC/ETH.

Expect it to explode as more exchanges list it.

Dude stop! Fucking shut up I'm not kidding

Monana is not secure and the lead developer crashed the coin!

Monero is literally unstoppable

That's bullshit. Once any coin is worth enough the Chinese will take over, ASIC or not.

> he still doesn't own monero

It's like you guys want to be poor.

Mining XMR is remarkably unprofitable. Like, it's profitable in that you're in the green if you're mining it but there are like several dozen things that are more profitable to mine. The only people mining Monero are probably people with CPU power to spare that don't care about the electric bill and people that are just believers in the project regardless.

I was going to set up all the work computers to botnet mine monero when everyone went home for the day and on weekends... sadly it got blocked by the antivirus but I'll figure out some admin passwords

redpill me on Monero. why is it better than Zcash, and why is it less popular?
t. nvidia miner on zcash interested in monero

zcash is controlled by the jews (no, seriously, look it up.)

...

I wouldn't say zcash is more popular than monero desu

>#1 Privacy coin

>Established use case having already been implemented on a DNM

>Resisted Federal scrutiny while BTC was wide open when AB went down

>One of the only coins that actually has a use case already in motion

Useless coin. LMAO.

Basically, all the evidence we have points to it as the only coin that meaningfully protects your privacy. The technology behind ZEC is very new and few understand it, but they've been open about their aim to make it not so private as to be attractive to criminals but private enough to make us feel safe. Sort of opposes the fundamental idea.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, ZEC is a profit-taking company. XMR is open source and maintained by volunteers.

Again, that's just the information we have today. The technology could prove meaningful, but that's a longshot bet.

lmao. simply lmao.

This is literally all you need to know.

so this means monero is one of the few alt coins with an actual real world use. huh.
i wonder if governments will start cracking down on it once it gets big. i don't think it will get big enough in the near future to have serious money launderers on it, but widespread selling of weapons, heavy drugs, cp, etc. will catch the eyes of the FBI.
either way, mining isn't rewarding that much. i may actually invest in it though, and cash out as soon as i see the first CNN article about it

Lets not forget the "trusted setup" and 20% dev tax on every block. XMR is the true privacy king

> government cracking down on it

If by cracking down you mean desperately wishing it popped out of existence, sure. But otherwise the government is impotent to stop this.

I make $100 per year after electricity cpu mining on my home PC (I bought it for $200 over a year ago, it's nothing special). Ok it's not heaps but may as well since it takes as much effort as downloading and running a program. Veeky Forums has gone to more effort for less when it comes to getting passive income.

well yeah if you are very careful and use a free gnu+linux on your computer you won't be found out. but widespread usage of monero (i would consider half the amount of ethereum users as "widespread") means that there will be tons of windows 10 and mac users that will have their own OS snitching on them. arresting two monero users/miners will be enough for people to panic and drop monero.

This is the longest monero thread I've seen without being invaded by asshurt zcash holders

Thats the extremely weird part since the whole reason Veeky Forums exist is because of its uncensorship and anonymity.

Considering purchasing too hodl.. This coin might not be worth millions, but their will always be people looking for illegal activies online, thus this coin will always exist in my eyes atleast.

PIVX is the superior privacy coin

zcash,. monero, the others, all shit

You've had your pump. I recommend you take your profits and put them in Monero. Be grateful your stupidity has worked out for you this far.

I think XMR will continue to grow in value and is a solid "hedge" - possibly better than LTC

Yep. I'm putting a lot of money into Monero right now with this exact thought in mind. I love the slow but steady growth of it, and the fact that no one knows I own any heheh

I made a nice return when monero pumped a few weeks back and sold my position. It's the 2nd best coin IMO. I've been thinking of buying back in but what's stoping me is the potential gains I could make from other low market alt coins. I have no doubt in my mind this coin will pump 3x within 12 months. That said, I'd much rather enjoy a 25x pump from a higher risk low alt coin.

It's profitable after electricity costs on GPUs, and with lowish electricity costs any 64 bit CPU with hardware AES acceleration
But yeah, Ethereum it's like thrice as profitable at the worst dips

Follow porn, drug, guns and gambling new favorite currency to the moon

You can mine this off of a laptop, but thats with minergate so....

XmrStak or xmrig will get you a better hashrate. All you need is a CPU with aes to be profitable.

am i doing this wrong i feel like mineing this would be too easy

lmao using cryptocompare u faggot.

Why do you think you'll get 9KH/s? Have you got a room full of servers?

I believe he was being sarcastic.

well i have like 20g to throw into something been eyeing coins to mine for a bit and really like how monero gives a middle finger to the gov

>shilling a coin that already mooned

world record is a dual amd epyc setup that had 3.5kh/s and im pretty sure it had above 400watt consumption.

It barely mooned during the last bull run. Zoom out

thats sweet do you know what the setup info is at?

Looks like someone's still salty about fluffy trolling the PnD crowd.

With this coin you can be sure the devs aren't just running a pump and dump scam (like 80% of shitcoins). So don't expect any hype waves unless some third party pushes for it (like alphabay did once). With most speculators trolled out of the picture what you can expect is price stability and a steady slow climb in value due to being the best privacy coin by far.

Yeah for 200watts I guarantee you'll get less than 2KH/s, most likely around or under 1KH/s

They already did.
steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@truthblitz/chinese-hacker-uses-nsa-hack-to-mine-monero-from-thousands-of-victims-computers

I got a pretty decent sized mining setup, so consider me bias.

I went with monero because I believe it has a real world use, good potential and the community is great unlike most alt. coins. So while I could make more on other coins, I'm supporting monero.

>pic of mining setup
>896 blade servers
>28 672 cpu cores
>140kw
>~800 kh/s

mining ~$40k/m at current price

Hey you're the dude with the bunker right? Saw your posts in a thread here or on /g/ a while back. How much did those servers cost you? That setup is crazy, I remember you saying how you tapped into the power grid with a unique connection to power that.

About ~$88k for the hardware. Nothing unique, just a normal industrial sized 24kv to 400v setup. 1.6mw capacity. Looks like any other utility pole.

>pic

Fluffy Pony we know its you faq off

More pictures of your setup anywhere?

specs of the blades ? at 88k those have to be 1366 boards

That's wicked. You holding?

How much to install electricity?

A few months ago the big buzzword was "Privacy", but the hype is over. It is the same as the "Our Coin can can do Smart Contracts" bullshit.XMR is a good coin but every coin that has Segwit can implement privacy features.

Bitcoin will never be fungible. Satoshi will never be able to move his coins without causing a stir and the wannacry hackers will never get their coins through ShapeShift.

which CPUs do you use? I've been trying to tease out info on the most energy efficient (task energy) but it's tough, there's very little info not in the form of manufacturer data sheets etc and they're all bullshit

There is a big difference between privacy features and being private by default. You are retarded.

The entire purpose of Monero is that privacy is inherent to the coin's existence without depending on a trusted setup that can be compromised (Zcash) or a mixer/mixing service that can just serve as an attack vector (basically every other "privacy coin").

Monero is unique and anyone that argues otherwise just doesn't understand it.

agreed

Can you elaborate further? I understand how bitcoin isn't actually that anonymous and how the mixer services are a meme. How does monero fundamentally solve this problem? Won't a blockchain inherently never be "truly" anonymous because if you know whom the address holder is you can just trace it back and look at the history?

Does monero do something at the blockchain level to not allow tracking or something

Monero takes a base address and a generated payment ID to make an integrated address which is what I think the blockchain actually stores

Actually no, it's better than that. Every single transaction uses stealth addresses. There's no way to opt-out of it. So you can just use any block explorer and view a Monero transaction, and you will see that the outputs don't go to the 95-character long Monero addresses (that start with a 4) but go to some random 64-character 'address'. There is extra privacy provided by ring signatures that essentially mix your transactions and ringCT completely masks the amount you send.

Whoa. That's neat.

Yeah, basically people are too dumb to even realize what monero does and that is exactly why you should stock up right now

>servers by the pallet

Socket G34, bought them used from the US air force, or rather someone who was supposed to throw them away. Will expand with additional 512 blades.

A lot.

Opteron 6278, they have the required 2mb l3 cache per core for monero mining.

I've been looking at E5-2699v4 but I'm not sure how Intel's "SmartCache" bullshit really works. The previous gen had 40 MB L3 whereas these have 5x MB of "smartcache". I don't trust it and info is sparse. Might just have to pick up a sample, oh well

HYC (the genius guy who invented the fastest DB in the world that Monero users) reckons that arm v8 chips are the most energy efficient. They're pretty cheap too so if you could design a board that held a heap of 64-bit arm CPUs you'd be laughing.

Looks like smart cache wouldn't be helpful because you'd be using the cache evenly across all cores (maxing it).
