A logical debate

>a logical debate
>"but what if X"

>hypothetical scenarios shouldn't exist if I can't think of a response

>a logical debate
>yeah x was bad but y was worse therefore x is good

>being so autistic you literally can't handle any of the entire domain of hypothetical thought

>a logical debate
>reductio ad absurdum

>a logical debate
>expertly employ reductio ad absurdum
>it gets rebranded as a slippery slope fallacy

What logic is there in debating?

Name twenty seven debates where this ACTUALLY happens.

Dumb frogposter.

>be me, very logical, huge fan of spock
>doing lots of logic in a conversation
>someone in the conversation uses an if statement
>an if statement
>a conditional fucking statement
>tell him about all the fallicies he just did, then strut out of the room
Do people really think "if" is a logical operator or something? Live long and prosper, kiddo.

>he can't handle the consequnces of his own line of reasoning

>Heated debate between 2 anons
>suddenly one brings credible quotes and sources
>all debate stops and no one replies to counterargument

>"""no true scotsman"""
>he thinks true scotsmen don't exist

>Make a claim
>user says you are wrong and a faggot
>Ask them why claim is false
>Refuses to explain why
>Ask them to make a correct claim
>Refuses to make any claim, but still calls you wrong

>b-but thats not what I mean

>see a heated argument between two anons
>intentionally post something really retarded in support of one side to discredit him/her/xer

>DUNNING-KRUGER EFFECT

>present logical argument
>"ahaha ur probably a virgin"

>Comes up with absurd situations to stress test my arguments
>calls my response absurd and therefore wrong
Why do you people do this? Also shout out to those monarchists that call the masses ignorant and self centred while their donut steel OC monarch can do no wrong

>can't logically defend argument
>therefore emotional/moral response

Every US election.

>a meta meme thread
>user laboriously describes with multiple words what he does instead of using a single-word phrase with the same meaning

>end result of reasoning is a seemingly nonsensical result
>this is normally indicative of a contradiction
>instead of conceding that the premises are malformed, the nonsensical result is treated as truth, because the premises lead to agreeable results in the overwhelming majority of cases

triggered me

Whatever you say, schizo.

Every debate on religion.

> If X is true something disturbing will happen
> Ergo X can't be true
Every debate with christfag ever. Especially C.S. Lewis.

>using the word logic outside contrived formal languages

20 yo stemcunts not even once

>tfw someone calls you a virgin even though you're not, but to point this out would basically sound like "n-no I'm not!"
the other day I posted in a thread on a porn board. I was (to put it succinctly) criticising a particular cam whore's video for being unrealistic.
out of nowhere like 3 anons threw a fit and started crypto-whiteknighting for her and calling me a virgin, saying I'd know she wasn't faking it if I'd ever actually had sex.
I just ignored them and didn't reply because I couldn't think of anything clever to say.
is there anything you can do in that situation besides just ignoring them or going into full shitpost mode?

>a logical debate
>Someone uses morality as an argument

>international historical event/news are discussed
>makes family/school analogies as if countries are human

I swear to god Americans always do this. Le America is the cool kid everyone hates but need to hang out with cuz he has money and shit.

the only time it was ever funny was that comic where all the gods are at high school and yahweh is the school shooter.
and that's not even history/current events related

>a calmy logical debate
>he start responding you using food analogies

>P1 You should sleep IF you are tired.
>P2 You are tired.
>C Thus you should sleep.

If there is an assertion, premise with an IF, it´s always implying that you have to prove that IF x is false or true.
You ought to learn logic not from spock but from a teacher of logic, if you want to know about logic.
