How do you deal with being an atheist? Recently I have been acknowledging more and more that all religion is man made (fake) and it has made me feel sad. Am I supposed to try and be "agnostic" until I inevitably die? There really doesn't seem to be much proof for a real, scientific God, either (so far).

By saying that religion has jelped people you're denying the fact that it was conjured to unite certain groups against others (see Constantine an Muhammad). They all have the same premise of being a group of chosen ones destined to rule the world, most evidence in Judaism and currently carried out by (militant) Islam. You can 100% argue logically for the existence of God, but you can't logically, definitively, argue for adhering to dogmatic religion or to specific worldviews beyond tradition or legendary revelation or circular reasoning (e.g. Jewish Mythology, The Trinity) . You need to find a belief system that personally speaks to you whilst also holding sacred the concept of God in a fashion that feels "right", this will take time, and of course you may entirely settle on Christianity, or Islam, or whatever. But the fact that you are a sad atheist suggests that an innate recognition of the Glorious All-Ruler is present but unfulfilled by a lack of spiritual development.
Look back at your ancestors, read period literature, see how they spoke and viewed the world, how they integrated old customs and new religious beliefs in a continuum . And remember that belonging to a religion (I would literally avoid using this term) is not a prerequisite to having mystical and spiritual experiences.
