Homage To Catalonia by George Orwell is a good choice to start off with. It's short, well written, and covers the war from both the view of an international brigadier and an anarchist fighter, one of the many factions in the republic.

will start with this book then, thanks

>George Orwell
I hate this meme board.Like for real recommending Orwell as the main source is the most retarded thing that anyone can do.Shit.I want to murder you.Cunt

Not that guy.
But when I saw the first reply I knew that this was going to happen.

>Orwell
>pro-anarchist/commie trash
No thank you.

This.

Battle for Spain by Anthony Beevor wasn't too bad

just read Paul Preston or some other English Hispanist, they know our history better than us.

Orwell was a Trotskyite faggot but you're even worse. Only reason someone would support Franco is if they were a landlord or wealthy clergymen. Most of the Spanish workers and peasants hated the landlords and clergy that oppressed them for generations.

Hilarious that the only way the landlords won was by boating in huge numbers of Moor savages from Morocco to rape, terrorize, and slaughter the Spanish workers and peasants into submission. How ironic that to save "Christian civilization", the fascists had to rape Spanish teenage girls with big Muslim dick

What is there to read about the SCW? There was a war bang-bang boom boom and Franco won it.

The historically interesting reading would be the lead up to there. Basically a History of the II Republic.

>Le English Hispanist pop book
>Le bearded, corrida loving Ernest Man romantic books

At that point, you could as well throw le mickey mouse cartoon. The thing about Spanish Academia is that they don't give one single fuck about le write a book for the pleb outside of academia.

Nigga I never said I was a commie, just that it's an interesting viewpoint to look at that's separate from the main cause of the republic, like looking at the car list movement in the same period.

Bitch did I say it should be a main source? No, I gave it as an example of an easy start to understanding the republican cause of the war. You have any other suggestions?

Sounds like communist propaganda.

Sounds like you're a retarded faggot

But you are fucking wrong. Republicans were loathed by most catholics. You just drank the whole Orwell kool-aid which is the whole point why it is a shitty source

I second that

Then why did they win the election twice? They only barely lost one election after the anarchists (a huge chunk of the popular front) decided to not vote.

I have very little respect for Orwell and think he's an all-around shithead.

If Franco was so popular, why did he have to use Moors as the bulk of his forces at the beginning of the war?

>Then why did they win the election twice?
What? The first elections were won by CEA which was a roght wing coallition full of monarchists and the second election wasn't won by anyone as AzaƱa made a coup and stopped the recount in the most right wing provinces. Dude you have no fucking clue about the subject.
>If Franco was so popular, why did he have to use Moors as the bulk of his forces
They weren't. Again you know nothing about the subject and you are making yourself look like a moron

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_general_election,_1931
>The Republic and Socialist coalition won a huge victory

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_general_election,_1936
>The winners of the 1936 election were the Popular Front, a left-wing coalition

Read a fucking book instead of wasting your life away on /pol/ you literal retard

You fucking moron. In 1931 women were not allowed to vote. Once they were allowed to vote the right wing won 2 straight electoral elections in a row (the second one was couped before the recount was over). You are really an idiot.

And there is also the protest abstinence of 1931 as a lot of conservatives didn't recognize the republic as it was instaurated by a coup d'etat

So why didn't Franco wait for the recount, if there was a chance the right would win? Wouldn't it be easier to stage a coup if it was proven your side was cheated out of the election?

Oh wait, there literally never was a recount, you just made some shit up to justify your shitty worldview. How totally shameful and pathetic. In all my many years arguing on the internet, I never once had to make up a fake historical event to justify my ideology.
