Why does Japan have to copy absolutely everything?
Japan started off copying Chinese culture, including Chinese characters. When they met the Portuguese, Japan copied Portuguese fire arms. Then the Portuguese went out of fashion, and the Dutch rose, so they started copying Dutch sciences. Then the British and French completely destroyed China, so they went from copying China to copying Britain and France. When they realized the French suck at war, they copied German ideas, including fascism. When they realized the Germans also suck, they copied the new superpower, America. They copied numerous other things along the way that they consider part of their own culture, such as anime and manga, which are based on American cartoons and comics. And Japan would have never left the Middle Ages if it remained isolated from the world.
Is this an inferiority complex? Is Japan the History equivalent of that opportunistic lapdog with no loyalty and who only hangs around the rich dudes with personal interests in mind? Are they just dumb robots who can't see any benefit from innovation?
Jonathan James
It's kinda rare to see such critical post about the nature of Japan here. Westerners love to criticize Chinese copy things, but they seldom realize that Japan actually is the master of knockoffs, not China. It's just they do better than China for now.
Justin Evans
Who exactly were they disloyal to?
Leo Flores
Inferiority complex? to whom? the Japanese are overtly prideful if anything, Its modern day Chinese people that have inferiority complex to Japan and Korea if anything
Jayden Barnes
Yeah. You know what is funny. It's Japan that started the whole brand copying thing that China does today. Making a shit tier product and selling it with an expensive brand name printed on it. In the 20s and 30s Japan used to sell cheap ass cars that were branded as Made in Germany, cigarettes branded as Made in Sweden and so on. So in a way China copied the copy. It's fun when you think about it. It's just that they always go where the money is at. First China, then Portugal, then Netherlands, then Britain and France, then Germany, and now America. I wouldn't say it's far fetch'd to predict whatever superpower suceeds America, say, India, Japan will also ally themselves to it, and make sure they copy some things from India.
Juan Rodriguez
If copying helps you then only a retard would not do it. Europeans took chinese weapon technology and ruled the world with it. Japs saw superior weapons and decided to use them and look where they are now. Best country in the world, never colonised, home of anime and future of humanity. Now return to where you came from
Jacob Gomez
>never colonised
Their entire Constitution was written by white men and there are tens of thousands of foreign troops stationed on their territory. America is just a really benevolent overlord.
Zachary Williams
by this measure Europeans copy each other too these kind of things aren't copyrighted, it's not a "copy", it's just adapting to what you think could work
Grayson Ross
I suggest you google what colonization means
Dominic Wright
>Best country in the world, nope >never colonised, nope >home of anime nope >and future of humanity. nope
All of this is wrong and a big fat nope
Adam Lopez
>Their entire Constitution was written by white men by those who won the war, it doesn't matter if they were "white" or anything also same in Germany >b-but germans are white what a difference does it fucking make?
Connor Powell
I suggest you look up what neo colonialism is. Japan is, for all intents and purposes, not an independent country. It's the price they pay for losing a war to the Americans in trying to free East Asia from white slavers who know only greed and scientific materialism.
Joseph Myers
not him but anime are japanese, when you see anime you know from the style they are japanese, it doesn't matter if they initally based on american cartoons are americans films french because frenchmen invented the cinematographer?
Jaxson King
if they were*
Cameron Kelly
neocolonialism is what happens to Africa, not to the third economy in the world also they are not that different from Europe which has American bases all over the place
Kevin Rogers
t. neoliberal globalist
How much is Goldman Sachs paying you to post here?
Grayson Collins
i'm not a globalist and i don't see why you are telling this to me
Dylan Morgan

Brody Price
>neocolonialism is colonialism because the words sound similar
Ethan Parker
>india >superpower funnily enough the japanese are investing heavily in southern india now because Southern india is more developed and has a large educated populace that is surprisingly disciplined

They don't copy things, they're an eclectic culture that adopts things they like, and things that work.
Kayden Jones
A serious historian doesn't use the concept of "copying" when dealing with cultural exchange and influence.
Liam Young
>Adapt and evolve, triumphing over neighbors who refuse to do so >"WTF I HATE JAPAN NOW!" screeched anonymous on a Japanese animated cartoon forum adapted for English speakers
Jacob Jenkins
Being good at copying (aka learning) is not something to be mocked. It's how you get ahead in life. Why do you think the only country other than America that makes animation anyone gives a shit about is Japan? Because Japan learned from America. In contrast French animators (snobby losers that didn't copy Disney, Fleischer, and Warner Brothers) made boring ugly things that sucked. No one gave a shit about their countrie's animation until they started copying the Japs.
Fun fact: the shounen/sentai trope of the hero losing and than getting a power up which allows him to beat back the bad guy comes from spinach gimmick in Pop-eye cartoons.
Owen Hall
Imagine if after the first house was constructed, nobody copied that idea, for fear of being "unoriginal"? Or if nobody ever made fire because Ught made fire first and nobody wants to be accused of copying Ught? You're basically arguing for cultural stagnation. Yes, cultures that interact with other cultures absorb ideas from the cultures that they interact with. Get over it.
Benjamin Torres
>Pyongyang When will those people be free again, Veeky Forums?
Connor Barnes
>Refuse to do so. >More like powerful neighbors made examples off and Nips forcing to adapt, saved by their relative isolated location in Asia. Sheer luck lmao.
Benjamin Cooper
They don't deserve to be free imo, they're servile cowards. It doesn't even benefit the world for NK to fall because we (or more accurately SK) would be inundated with tens of millions of useless brainwashed cunts with zero skills plucked from the 1950s. We really should just nuke NK, absolutely nothing of value would be lost.
Brayden Flores
>trying to free East Asia from white slavers >Tojo and the gang gangraped and massacred their way throughout east and SE Asia, depleting local resources and brutalizing their Asian "friends", to free East Asians from da whito deviru >They dindu nuffin' nanking, the Philippines and how they treated their Okinawan "fellow japanese" were all to free Asia from colonial oppression lol Yeah, ok.
Luke Cooper
2bh this is exactly why I never understood why there are people who believe Japan has a "unique culture".
Sebastian Flores
>committing whale genocide isn't unique
Isaac Torres
Copied from Iceland and Canada.
Tyler Young
That actually began with the Ainu. It spread to the Yamato later on.
Camden Clark
Isn't tentacle rape an original Japanese cultural tradition?
Austin Smith
Only retards don't copy good things.
Jonathan Harris
>In contrast French animators (snobby losers that didn't copy Disney, Fleischer, and Warner Brothers) made boring ugly things that sucked. France makes better animated movies than the US though.

at a certain point they started making things better than the guys they "copied" ie Japanese cars are generally better and more efficient than most American cars since the 80s
Wyatt Morris
Because they have anime
