I still don't understand why mainstream american documentaries are such low brow obnoxious trash.
I'm only familiar with those made from 2000 onward so I'm probably missing the golden age of american documentaries but still, even canadian, french and british documentaries are far better but at least in britains case they're becoming increasingly more americanised.
American documentaries have aliens, flashy effects and electric guitars. It's so stupid.
Try getting views with nothing but info dump and no flashy animations. You have to remember, these people clap in theatres.

The Left took control of our film industry, do you expect them to be true to history or attempt revision?
That mentality is problematic.
Here's a good documentary about Frederick the Great of Prussia

Because every single one somehow has political undertones to it that make it unwatchable.
Watch an easy-watching nature documentary if you don't want politics/don't want to think.
DA LEFT
Stop watching American docus.

Will there ever be a greater WW2 documentary?

I thought it was fascinating and contained lots of intredasting anectodes which help when you're trying to start a conversation about the issue.
Also, not a documentary but

KEN BURNS
No. Also, check out BBCs Spanish civil war, and Provos, Loyalists and Brits.
Part one of four, but only if you have the attention span.
Ken Burns' The West.
There's a PBS documentary on Napoleon that seemed pretty good. Here's part one.

While his word choice was not ideal, when OP said "Veeky Forums-tier", he actually meant GOOD.
the first two seasons of "Battlefield" should be the bare minimum of anyone starting a thread about WW2.
I liked it but speak with more passion and louder
>when OP said "Veeky Forums-tier", he actually meant GOOD.
>tfw there are no good good tier documentaries that i know of

Good documentary exposing American imperialism and hypocrisy.

This is terrific.
I think the American English dub is a bit odd, but you should check the Apocalypse series (maybe with subtitles if you don't mind).
It's all based on decently colorized archive footage about WW1, WW2, and a few ones about important figures of that era. There's a few flaws in the storytelling, but overall, definitely worth a watch.
Here's the IMDb page on the one about WW1. imdb.com
Just look up the others!
You are forgetting this one
Shut up Bill Wurtz is the greatest youtuber
(((wurtz)))
>that intro
>that footage and background info
>even includes order of battle, force disposition and minor details without running off point or getting boring

Avid. Looking to expand the doc of anyone would want to help me
Brilliant. This documentary humanizes and deifies him at the same somehow. Makes me want to start a land war in europe
Is this a joke?? What the fuck
I must point out, however, that it is lacking in parts related to USSR. I might be biased about that, but they've given very little info on guerilla warfare, order#227, sieges and evacuations(except Leningrad), nazi atrocities on occupied territories(which partly explain why they did likewise in Germany when they got there), and at least a couple of interesting episodes which would fit(Brest fortress, for example).
Dont get me wrong, i do not mean to prove that soviets were wholly good guys, but there are really little info on their part in WW2 in that documentary in comparison to other parties.
