From a student job where I was supposed to program statistical software for a medical doctor.
We got into some heated discussions about the technicalities. At the end of the third day he made up some reason to get the key to the office I was supposed to keep and later that evening wrote me an email that he doesn't want to work with me anymore.

This was when I realized that just telling your superior the truth and caring about the optimum product might not be the optimum way to succeed in the workplace. Social things are much much more important.

Still, billed him ~$1000 for all the preparation work.

No matter how good you think you are, being a pain in the ass to work with is never something to brag about. You sound like a real cunt. You should work on fixing that.

I worked for a company in post production. the place was filled with kids and it had poor management. they throw new employees on their hardest projects. When I'd ask for help the fat leader guy did't really want to get up and help.

Eventually he came to my desk and said the boss wants to talk to us. basically I wasn't performing as well. Whats the most fucked up is its my lead's job to help me out. long story short I got fired.

sorta tore me up inside. thought about it lots. Got a new job at a better place and its far better with better pay. better future . better people etc etc.

I meet people that worked for my shitty previous job that I got fired at. and they all tell me horror stories.

I had a job and a girlfriend. My job was so fucking annoying that I was always working and when I had time to see her I was just complaining about it to her and otherwise had nothing to talk about. I lost the girlfriend and blamed the job, so I stopped taking shit from my boss and stopped working unpaid overtime. Got fired after about a month.

Got a settlement from the company (shitty startup) and haven't worked in a year. By choice, I mean. Sat around for six months, travelled in Asia for three months, messing around with Kotlin now. Maybe I'll work again one day. I dunno. Not in a rush.

Have a new job now, make roughly $20/hr and live with family to save it all. This was last year or something. Never going to be that desperate for money again, really wanted to die and was a huge beta bitch. Never told anyone about this except closest friend out of shame.

Those are hell. Had a software job like that (hint: a multi billion screwup in Texas), it was a pressure cooker. New people were thrown in as subject matter experts without knowing shit, claimed hours were expected to be "creative", performance reviews that moved goalposts. That shit ages you, glad you got out f a m.

If you're talented at math then you should be fine bud, good luck. Flagships are hard but if you've got a gut feeling, it's obviously the right choice.

IDK your financial situation but if you can do well enough in CC you should 100% apply for financial aid. Major universities will usually at least help out a small amount with promising students

I got fired from a cashier job when i was 19. I was making $9.50 an hour.

Constantly showed up late to work, flirted with milfs which caused my register to be backed up all the time, randomly no showed/no called which made scheduling hell for my supervisors/team. I was really great with customers, so they kept me on the team for over a year before finally pulling me into an office at the start of a shift (which I was late for) and telling me that I should go back to college or something and didn't belong there.

I remember feeling pretty ashamed about it, having to walk back across the store in my work uniform thinking that everyone could tell I just got fired. I walked around the outer edge of the store so my coworkers couldn't see me walking out of the office.

I was spiralling down all of last year leading up to my suicide attempt in March. I had a job at a café that I got fired from because I was visibly fucked up towards the end.

I feel this in my software dev job, I'm the fastest and most detail oriented in my department, and even though I got the biggest raise+bonus this year I know my manager would rather replace me with a couple of average warm bodies who don't ask too many questions. Also yes, it was a pretty severe blow, was unemployed for two months, and me and GF were moving two months after this happened. Luckily I was earning like 1200 a week so I had enough saved to cover rent and deposit for the new apartment while also covering my expenses for two months. Ended up getting a DUI (driving while drunk) the week after I got fired because I did nothing but get shitfaced every night. Turns out a few months later the shitbag plant manager was forced to resign for treating everyone at the plant like literal garbage, and now they only work five days a week. I miss it because of the income, but other than that I'm so much happier now because I have a personal life again plus can finish college. Part of me wishes I never worked there because that place literally killed my dreams, threw a wrench at my love life, and also made me gain a substantial amount of weight that I haven't been able to get rid of two years later.

Second job I Lived in some mini apartment and didn't do too much, because I was living in Germanies flyover county. Made huge money in the 6 months, so had load left over when fired, + unemployment benefits + moved back in with the parents, so finanially, it wasn't bad at all.
However this time it took forever to find a new job and that was really depressing, even though I could have lived like a king (finacially speaking) I was unmotivated for everything, didn't do much with my friends and so on, until I started a manual labor job as a helper monkey in the assembly line at a friends job and I finally had a perspective again and could search for a better job with more energy and a happy outlook on life.

I simply replied 'probably not'. Shit hit the fan. Boss sent a barrage of emails and we had to have performance meetings and holy shit. Every day for a month I thought I was going to flick them off and not come back.

No regrets, I probably robbed them of 2k over the 10 months I worked there, lived with my parents during this time and went to university afterwards anyways.

It's always funny to call them up about a week later and inform them that by firing someone that voluntarily quit is an act of retaliation and is thus illegal.

I have aspergers to. We do not see this as being rude but being direct and quick. We do not like small talk either. We also do not see a problem with our behaviour. In general other people make a problem out of things but people with aspergers rarely do.

I'd say we have close to no fucks to give about social conventions which results in frustrations for people.

Our facial expressions are also flatline or very close to it. So we look bored, arrogant, nonchalant, ... even though we might not feel this way. A bit like a constant poker face. Which leads to a lot of miscommunication.
