Why would they? Needless bloodshed for very little in return. Plus they were making and selling arms to the Nazis at the same time.

>let's invade a bunch of mountains and have a hostile power literally in the centre of our territory, while we're being attacked from all sides

How the FUCK did Switzerland manage to completely avoid BOTH world wars despite being right in the middle of storm?

By remaining neutral and being well defended enough that no one would want to bring you into the war by attacking them?

I thought the Swiss were funding the Nazis

The swiss had a history of neutrality that was backed by decades or centuries of peace. Plus massive strategic terrain advantage.

No, they are funding the Templars.

Because there is literally nothing to gain by invading Switzerland. It's like jumping a neighbor's fence in order to fuck up his rottweiler, technically you could do it but what's the point?

>history of neutrality
Doesn't really mean shit to Nazis, see Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Norway for comparison.
Norway even had good defensive terrain.

They wanted to, but they were too afraid of the swiss warrior.

Those, especially Norway, may have been more for strategic purposes

>Because there is literally nothing to gain by invading Switzerland.
well, you get some important mountain passes and high end industry.

Switzerland is a tiny country with no strategic resources, little farmland and a large number of riflemen sitting on top of fortified mountains. Any of their neighbors* could defeat them, but the cost of doing so when fighting on other fronts against real enemies is unjustifiably high.

*except Italy, probably

Switzerland was mostly agrarian in the world wars. The passes in question had limited infrastructure and were easily defensible on the other side (the Alps extend past Switzerland) so would not yield any real advantage.

Austrians and Italians fear the Swiss warrior.

They're sitting in a bunch of mountains and the entire male population is armed.

Not a good combination if you're seeking to subjugate them.

>Switzerland was mostly agrarian in the world wars.
Thats bullshit, Switzerland likely was the most highly industrialized country per capita in Europe during WW2.

Didn't the Germans basically consider them on their side regardless?

>Switzerland was mostly agrarian in the world wars.

I'm not one of the posters that throws insults about so I'm just going to ask, do you know what 'agrarian' means? You didn't use the wrong word?

>Not in the way of anybody
>Mountainous as fuck
>Neutral government that takes no sides
>Fortified as fuck
>Well-trained and well-equipped army
>Armed populace
