Books about Liberia?

What went wrong with Liberia? Did anything go right? What's the suggested reading on it? The only thing the handful of KK subscribers who knew about the country suggested was a memoir called " House on Sugar Beach"

>white philanthropists buy a plot of land so that freed slaves can go back to Africa
>freed slaves immediatly begin to enslave the local native population
>decades later, Liberia's government sells its mines to private companies

Oh, how could anything go right ?

Former slaves moved there and put the native africans on plantations. Native tribes overthrew the government in the 80s and it has been a shithole ever since

There's a vice (I know, vice sucks) documentary on the cannibal warlords there

>what went wrong
niggers

General
Butt
Naked

From what I've heard, things were pretty alright as long as the descendants of American slaves were in power. Then the poor and uneducated natives took over and it all went to shit

modern world history summarized

I would recommend this book:

the former slaves pictured a western like democracy, but with them in charge. despite only being 2% of the population they held onto power for a couple centuries, and Liberia didn't actually do too bad compared to most west african countries.
I believe 100% that certain "peoples" are best governed by brutal dictators or military strongmen, as soon as these people get eliminated entire areas of the world get destabilized and go to shit.

Just watched a bit of that documentary, what the fuck went so fucking wrong in Africa

Couple hundred years of colonialism followed by CIA/Soviet fuckery during the cold war. Also niggers.

Thx.
I struggle with this too. Somethings you can say were influenced by slavery or colonialism, but other things

It takes a couple thousand years worth of progress to advance from the neolithic to the modern era.

That progress didn't happen everywhere.

Africa started the modern era with around iron age cultural and political institutions, and not any of the really good iron age ones either.

The colonial powers did little to help in most places, and then the post-colonial governments, which had pitiful resources to begin with, were intentionally destabilized by both the CIA and KGB, and sometimes the British, French and Chinese.

So now you have an area that's far behind the rest of the world, because they started behind, because crossing the Sahara is a bitch and if you get past the Sahara there's a bunch of jungle you have to cross.

Ebola crushed their economy

The truth is that not all men were created equal

Basically the ACS never wanted fully independent people and basically used Liberian and their mixed race elite politicians to fufill palm oil and rubber needs.

Of course this didn't happen until the 1900's but throughout the history of Americos they absorbed and adopted other populations. It's the reason why they are called Congos, they assimilated freed Congolese people enroute for enslavement. They also adopted native children their entire history including the two parents of the current president.

People forget the Americos came to end slave trading and had to fight their neighbors who became reliant of slave trade to survive. While it's best they left simplified narratives don't help anyone.

Genetics

>circa early 1800s, there was a movement to resettle US free blacks and freed slaves to Africa
>By 1867, more than 13,000 Black Americans had moved to Liberia
>They intermarried largely within their community, developing an ethnic group that followed western cultural values
>They did not identify with the indigenous Africans that they encountered at all
>Instead they saw them as inferior and tried to force them to assimilate to western values thru the use of schools/Christianity
>Pressure from France/UK caused Liberia to lose valued territory, which caused a setback to the development of the countries infrastructure
>In the earlier part of the 20th century, A new economic policy was adopted to attract foreign investment
>Between 1944-1970, the value of foreign investments increased 2 hundredfold.
>From 1950-1960, Liberia experienced an average annual growth of 11.5%
>With the expansion of the economy, revenues from the gov't was used to construct and modernize infrastructure
>Capital streets were paved, public sanitation system was installed, hospitals were built, and a literacy program was launched
>several thousand kilometers of roads were built, as was a railway line to transfer iron from coastal mines for export.
>The Port of the capital was also transformed into a free port to encourage trade.
>By the early 1960s, Liberia began to enjoy its first era of prosperity, thanks to the policies put in place and the efficient use of resources
>Liberia had earned the reputation of being a pro-Western influence in West Africa
>In 1980, a military co-op lead by a group of native Africans who despised the westernized Blacks took power
>majority of Americo-Liberian government officials were executed and the natives took control of Liberia
>Natives viewed the Americanized blacks as oppressors just like the white colonizers in other parts of Africa
>Civil war broke out, and Liberia turned into a shit hole under native rule
>End of the story

>I believe 100% that certain "peoples" are best governed by brutal dictators or military strongmen

Why did FOB slaves do better than native blacks then? Doesn't that imply they learned something?

That picture ticks me off. I've NEVER heard Liberia spoken of positively and always wondered why the fuck not.
>REEEEE SLAVES DESERVE BETTER APOLIGIZE FOR DESTROYING OUR PROUD BLACK IDENTITY
>*have a country*
>REEEEEE "GO BACK TO AFRICA" SOUNDS RACIST REEEEE

>Bix nood mufuggas we gotz ta go back to our ROOTS who comin back 2 africa wif me
>AYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

...

he asked what went wrong with Liberia not Europeans

>People forget the Americos came to end slave trading and had to fight their neighbors who became reliant of slave trade to survive.

They pretty much pimiped out their natives as pseudo-slaves in other plantations in nearby lands.

>People forget the Americos came to end slave trading and had to fight their neighbors who became reliant of slave trade to survive. While it's best they left simplified narratives don't help anyone.

Most people are woefully ignorant about the West African Slaver States, Oyo, Infi, and I forget who else. The British had to force them to end the slave trade at gunpoint and even then they just abolished chattel slavery.

this desu. Its like that one video where the two african soldiers give a chimpanzee a gun. African cultural and political institutions just weren't ready

You realize that was a promotional video for Planet of the Apes, right?

Good post

Niche area of interest, but Liberia's upcoming presidential election is insane.

One of the candidates is the former CoA of the Coca Cola corporation, running on a socialist platform.

Another was videotaped disembowelling and torturing a previous president during the Civil War.

Liberia's fucking nuts.

source on the video?

Nig nogs is what is wrong.

Na it pretty much is 90% the fact that nigger have iqs lower than 80 in most of those places.

You sound like you're making excuses.

So niggers.

>Another was videotaped disembowelling and torturing a previous president during the Civil War.
Well I know who's got my vote. Sounds like a guy who gets results!

Can't find a video of the torture, I'm sure it's out there somewhere, but here he is imprisoned by Prince Johnson.
