Revolution

Besides the American Revolution, have there been any other major revolutions in modern history that didn't go horribly wrong? All the others (French Revolution, Russian Revolution, Iranian Revolution, Chinese Revolution) seem to just devolve into bloody dystopian shitholes.

The price of the Revolution aint free

American Revolution did go wrong. It created America.

the German Revolution went alright

The American Revolution, wasn't really a Revolution, merely a separatist movement, and a quite successful one at that. Perhaps the most successful separatist movement in all of history.

The """"Glorious"""" """"Revolution""""

Most successful by what metric?

Revolution only works when the "revolutionaries" are already functionally in control. This was the case during the American revolution which was more of the locals defending from an invasion from across the Atlantic than overthrowing the current government of situated in the area. It was more a secessionist movement than an actual revolution.

American Revolution didn't have mass counter-revolutionary plots that required bloody dystopia to suppress.

>American Revolution didn't have mass counter-revolutionary plots that required bloody dystopia to suppress.
except for the entire British army

The difference between the American Revolution and those revolutions is that the Americans simply just broke away from a country across the ocean while the other nations tried to overthrow their age-old governments.

The Latin American revolutions turned pretty crap too.

When will non-Anglos learn?

Cromwell's England kind of sucked, does that count as the result of a revolution?

How often does a separatist movement result in the formation of a country that ultimately becomes more powerful than the one it detach from?

The American colonies had the advantage of there being shitloads of unclaimed fertile land to expand into, after they had already separated.

You are forgetting the revolutions that are bound to happen. I am talking about the inevitable global socialist revolution where the proletariat finally become liberated. While you may say its not history, it is occurring as we speak.

The song revolution by the Beatles

This. It's coming, lads.

It's debatable to what extent the American Revolution went "right". There wasn't too much radical about it, sorta like comparing the Anglican Church to the RC Church. The founding fathers wanted to shift control from London to the colonies, but otherwise keep the status quo. Big whoop.

>unclaimed
Yea about that, white man...

>entire
>also implying USA had no help what so ever

And the colonies contained 1/5 of the population of the entire british empire

I only see this happening if automation scales up massively and the governments of the world respond with "eh, fuck the workers". At that point yeah, even Sam Harris said a socialist revolution is inevitable there.

greek?

''The American Revolution'' was nothing more than a bunch of colonial aristocrat slave owners, who realized the central government that ruled over them was an ocean.

But you said the land belonged to no one!

>was an ocean
Aquaman seems to do fine though

Ocean away* sorry typo

>except for the entire British army

Wow that's fucking nothing
Especially when you know it was the shittiest land army in Europe

Not "no one", but in the sense of no one single person, but to the group collectively.

t. eternal anglo

>have there been any other major revolutions in modern history that didn't go horribly wrong?
Greek revolution

>Especially when you know it was the shittiest land army in Europe
What was it one of the leaders of Germany in WW1 said about them? Something like, "if the British Army lands on our shores, I'll have them arrested"

Irish revolutionary war ended in Ireland's independence but was followed by a Civil War.
Not sure if that counts.

Yeah it was pretty shit.

China's revolution overthrew the Qing dynasty but was then followed by warlordism and civil war. It counts.

...

the 1848 one?

I wouldn't say that. I mean, is there a government that's like ours? Most are parliamentarian.

...

Took over India, that's pretty impressive.

Except for you know Greece.

American Revolution wasn't a revolution per se

Bolivar's Revolutions across South America, even if his Grand Columbia project fell through, South America on the whole has been one of the most politically stable regions in the world.

Greek Revolution, nothing much to be said, the Greece got along fine without any extremist elements taking power.

Italian Independence wars, which created a pretty typical European Monarchy.

Irish Independence War, where Ireland is still doing pretty well for itself.

Arab Revolt against the Ottomans in WWI

1989 Revolutions in the Warsaw Pact, with a bloodbath in Romania as an exception.

Tunisian Revolution, really the only Arab revolt that ended with a stable government.

India was weak and divided, British control in much of India was by proxy through local rulers, and a lot of the conquering done by the private East India Company.

The broken remains of a turkick horde
Was also able to conquer india

Was the Haitian revolution that bad?

The after effects were not great

Don't forget, the first official American government after the revolution (continental congress under articles of confederation) failed utterly, as each individual state wanted to become its own country and refused to work together on even the most basic of issues.

>I mean, is there a government that's like ours? Most are parliamentarian.
Yes, a fuckload.

But they're all corrupt shitholes.

>...

Please don't read this ideologically motivated tripe. Instead listen to the Revolutions podcast about Haiti or wikipedia the revolution. Or read a book. Anything than this is better.

Okay Mehmet.

All the revolutions you listed except the Iranian were good things, OP.

>yes Ivan, your ownership of a whole cow means I have to starve you to death to make glorious communist utopia

s*cialists are scum and will be ground into fertilizer

They started off as good things, then turned to shit afterwards. The French Revolution ate its children, the Russian Revolution was hijacked by Stalin, the Chinese Revolution fractured the empire into competing warlords and eventually crap like the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution after Mao took over, etc

So the American Revolution went fine because there wasn't any crazy asshole around to hijack it

no, 1918
