What is the ideal way for a society to express sexuality?

What is the ideal way for a society to express sexuality?

What I mean is: Is it better for sexuality to be repressed in the public space...or is it better to recognize sexual depictions as a natural an unavoidable by-product of public life and thus accepted?

For example. the Indian Hindus made frequent displays of sex and sexual content through the most stunning and ornate artwork at the time given the great wealth. It was also woven into their religion, and works like the "kama sutra" became sex guide and scripture all in one. The Indians, despite their society, would be considered "degenerate" in a more sexual repressed and, let us say, "prudish" way at the same time periods, mainly Christian Europe. The Sari on women is much more lurid and lecherous than any dress worn in Europe. So obviously each society has a different degree of exposure when it comes to sexual imagery in average things, and I ask: What is a more advantageous action? Repress sexual displays in culture or not?

why people get so up in arms about sexuality is beyond me, like yes the way i've been brought up i find public displays of it confronting and personally would adhere to a fairly normal attitude towards it but it's hardly the worst thing in the world

if it is between consenting adults, it does no harm to anyone, and causes no ill provided contraception is used

it's cliche but the contrast between how we treat displays of violence vs displays of passion is bewildering

why repress something that is as much a part of human expression as any other biological function?

>why repress something that is as much a part of human expression as any other biological function?

Because it's an integral part of the desert people religion we practice.

it's pretty bloody silly
not to say that we should thing the pendulum to far the other way, at the risk of cheapening/contorting sexuality, but its completely harmless and alot of fun

>but its completely harmless and alot of fun

I-I'll have to take your word for it.

>desert people religion
Yeah, what the fuck is up with desert religion and hating sexuality? Herodotus even described an elaborate ritual involving fire that Arabs would do after having sex because of how "unclean" it is. Is it just that their wretched, barren environments hate fertility? Europeans before Christianity were maximum "degenerates" by our standards of view today desu, even though they were objectively superior to what happened after Christianity took hold of the Western world, but I know there are other factors in that.

Fuck off with your memes.
>muh consent
Ressentiment from disgusting old hags that can't handle the fact that 13-year-old girls are better in every possible way.
>muh harm
Harm isn't a bad thing. Stop thinking your archaic memes are something original
>muh contraception
Disgusting.
>biological function
STEMsperg.
WE WUZ VIKANGS N SHIEET

What is your argument? What are you trying to say? That consent and harm are usless and scientific nationalizations of ethical problems are false?

'ressentiment' do you mean resentment?
considering the only reason any of us do anything is to feel good, and should try to respect the rights of others to feel good, harm exists

i'll honestly drop you if you speak this near me you nerd fuck

Because it strikes at the core of our nature as socially calculating apes. Who also want to fuck all the time.

We're evil and jealous and schemers at that. For every movie star-like handsome guy and busty goddess, there's 99 ordinary schmucks and 99 ordinary chicks (who would fuck the handsome guy in a heartbeat regardless how good of a man their husband is).

Violence..is universal. Almost impersonal. We see conflict everywhere in nature. But sex...that involves personal relationships and wishes and fantasies. So much subterranean energy waiting to be released!

Most men aren't "alphas" and this energy needs a focus. So you see the striving and sweat of workers and artisans trying to climb up the ladder and find their goddess. That energy builds civilization.

And the forbidden truth. That "illicit" sexuality is more satisfying than teleological or pragmatic sexuality or boring sexuality espoused by gov (it's amazing how boring a drone can make sex seem). The muslims understand this, at least. That humans aren't rational. I'm sure they get more pleasure from seeing a bare shoulder than I would ever get from jacking off to a oiled whore.

>why repress something that is as much a part of human expression as any other biological function?

Because the human expression IS its repression for the good of a tribe. If you want to look at "unrepressed" sexuality, look at the hell of Papau New Guinea. Its repression is the silent bargain most civilized men make with other civilized men. They will work and have a wife and have kids and die. There are exceptions but the system can take a few 'parasites".

It is not "sexuality" itself that is hated. It is the dual recognition that men compete for women in rituals and simple savagery and cleverer means. Every man trying to get every other man's wife is an unsustainable society. At least as we know it. Not to speak of the treacherousness of the women themselves...

CONT.

"What is a more advantageous action? Repress sexual displays in culture or not?"

Theoretically, yes. But that would require a population of wise people. Which has never existed.

So going back to normal humans, they'd resent and revolt against any such restrictions on a pleasures they've had for years. But such restrictions don't make sense in the modern world.

Technology is evolving in such a way that enables atoms to amplify information from other atoms. Everyone steps into universal acid in order to be an atom with a capital value attached.

Face it kid sooner or later, everyone is going to get brain melted by universal acid.

ok

>why repress something that is as much a part of human expression as any other biological function?

Over indulging in sex, for the sake of pleasure is bad for you, since you become more dependent of it and you can never get satisfied..
And looking at pleasure as a good is much worse. When you do so, you become more of a slave to it and have a shittier life.
That's the reason why Buddha defended celibacy. Or why Epicurus was likewise celibate.

>if it is between consenting adults, it does no harm to anyone, and causes no ill provided contraception is used
The problem with your thinking is that you are considering only physical harm and physical pleasure/pain. If being promiscuous makes you more dependent on sexual pleasure, it will be bad for you. And for society. Promiscuity leads to more unstable marriages, which lead to a more unstable environment.

This is pretty much completely false.
The Greek-Roman philosophers have written against promiscuity.

And here is what Tacitus wrote in Germania:

>Their marriage code, however, is strict, and indeed no part of their manners is more praiseworthy. Almost alone among barbarians they are content with one wife, except a very few among them, and these not from sensuality, but because their noble birth procures for them many offers of alliance.

and

>Thus with their virtue protected they live uncorrupted by the allurements of public shows or the stimulant of feastings. Clandestine correspondence is equally unknown to men and women. Very rare for so numerous a population is adultery, the punishment for which is prompt, and in the husband's power. Having cut off the hair of the adulteress and stripped her naked, he expels her from the house in the presence of her kinsfolk, and then flogs her through the whole village. The loss of chastity meets with no indulgence; neither beauty, youth, nor wealth will procure the culprit a husband.

It's not an unreasonable assumption that the earliest form of Christianity taught the world would end in it's followers life-times. If you beleived that a doctrine against sex makes sense. Paul himself said you should never have kids. It's a passage virtually all branches of Christianity ignore or read exceptions into the text.

Why do people shitpost so heavily

It should be heavily repressed because sex is grody

IMO it should be expressed but in a sane, equilibrated way

Not in a low, disturbing way like, for example, pornography

>Paul himself said you should never have kids. It's a passage
Would you mind providing source?

Here's your (You). I found some at the discount store today so I have a few to give as charity to shitposters.

4 For thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;

5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.

34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

the entire construct of marriage is a repression of sex. get rid of that then, see how it affects your society. marriage is already slowly being phased out and slowly becoming restricted to the upper class (I guess rich women willingly oppress themselves?), see how it's affecting our society

historically, thats actually the norm as i see it. Rich women have always had to follow strict norms and, to a lesser, extent fashions because their virginity and their ability to produce children was highly valued for sealing social, economic and political alliances.

to continute, their value was a lot higher because of their link to birth/caste/class/wealth, meaning that they were investments that needed to be heavily guarded and segregated by peculiar norms and isolation from the rest of the populace, combined with a heavy dose of elitist ideology, mostly religious

Sex is natural. Death is natural. Suffering is natural. Shitting on the street is natural.

Natural doesn't all mean its good though. We as humans have risen above the "natural" state of things and have constructed ourselves grand civilization based on our understanding of knowledge/culture. Cultures have norms regarding what is acceptable and not in general public discourse. Disregard of culture destroys the culture and the civilization.

So ideal way is to conform to the society's standard since we live in a society.

>Shitting on the street is natural.

It's not. Found the triggered christcuck

Repress. It builds self-control. Also taboos make everything better anyways, it's not like being open about it makes sexuality more enjoyable.

>it's pretty bloody silly
Go back to /soc/ tourist. Who the hell writes like this here you bitch.

Mandate that both sexes participate in temple prostitution

Honestly I think we've become far too sexualised as a culture. Everywhere you look its sex on the TV, sex in films, sex on the internet, and I think it's a pretty unhealthy mindset.

autism

>why people get so up in arms about sexuality is beyond me

It's a prison mentality caused by devil worship - vermin pretending they're not vermin - like when serial killers are more respected in prison than, for example, a non-violent child molester.
