Why the Roman Empire Fell

The Romans had developed a special ritual which allowed them to turn the gods of their enemies. The point of this ritual was to entice the foreign god to abandon their people, and instead, favor Rome in battle. When they embraced monotheism, they were no longer able to perform this ritual, and thus they were no longer able to sway the gods of their enemies. With this critical advantage gone, they were soon destroyed.

So many reasons yet you fail to pick anyone thats true

Very cute and moronic post

Would this mean that hindus are the new romans?

>The Romans had developed a special ritual which allowed them to turn the gods of their enemies.
It was not developed by the Romans, already the Greeks had the custom not to pray to their city gods when leaving their polis, but to pray to the gods of the land they were in, especially to pray to their enemies gods and to beg them to give them the power to punish them for their wrongdoings.

You guys laugh, but back then, people thought the gods were literally real, and turning the enemies god against them was an immensely powerful propaganda tool.

You would have leg to stand on if Christianity didn't become Roman state religion exactly because it won them an unwinnable battle.

>romans used to be white (nordic)
>make greatest civilization
>mix with africans
>becomes the modern swarthy and greasy Italians
>fall to the might of the Germanic beast (still white/nordic)

>Christianity helped them win 1 battle
>Whereas the ritual had given them victory in hundreds of battles

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.........

>inflation
>abolition of citizenship by granting it to everyone
>germanic migrations
>co-emperors
>christianity replacing the civic religion
>not reforming the senate to serve the entire empire rather than just the italian peninsula
>too many succession crises over the course of its history
>no great Emperors since Antoninus Pius
So many, many, many reasons but pissing off the gods wasn't one of them.

>I know nothing about Late Roman history: the post

>abolition of citizenship by granting it to everyone
>germanic migrations
Non of these would be a thing if they weren't hellbent on constantly growing their war machine.

>constantly growing their war machine
>fucking 1st century BC Augustus literally culled legions from 53 to 28 and while they went back to 50 in late empire, they were only 1000 men each, cumulatively not even making up a third of early empire's manpower
>4th century empire with an order of magnitude larger population than 1st century BC empire couldn't muster third of the force without conscripting shitloads of barbarians

seriously what the actual fuck did they do to come to this?

Roman generals were fucking retarded and started romanticizing barbarian warfare and then conscripted literal barbarians

>modern swarthy and greasy Italians

Terrone pls, only you southern faggots look like muslim rape babies

Assimilating conquered populations into the army is something that Rome had done throughout its entire history.

>implying Romans charged at their enemies like this

Reminder that the Roman Empire was Christian longer than it was pagan :^)

they feared the barbarian warrior

Mostly everything after the christianization of "rome" is pretty shit t b h

>Eastern
>Roman
>Empire

By which standard? ERE dominate Europe for more then 1000 yrs.
Eastern Roman Empire. Eastern part of the Roman Empire. Roman Empire

>You guys laugh, but back then, people thought the gods were literally real, and turning the enemies god against them was an immensely powerful propaganda tool.

The gods are literally very very real and an extreme danger to any human who crosses them - but I agree with other user about that being of lesser importance as to why Rome fell.

Which god do I piss off to die fastest

>Byzantine
>dominate

It was a punching bag of Europe and Islamic hordes for most of its history

>Whereas the ritual had given them victory in hundreds of battles
It sure as fuck didn't help them for the hundreds of years everything was fucked beforehand.

Constantine came really late in this whole party.

Also, one of their main opponents by then were the persians, so that shit wouldnt have worked.
