Because that was the pool some scammer used to transfer the contract balance to his account.
He spread false information that it had more room in the slot.

No he used this address in his smart contract that he posted on etherscan.

The smart contract was created on etherscan. If you send directly to the address on website you should be "good" if you don't get rejected or refunded.

well yeah no one should be sending eth to anything besides the address on the site anyway

Yeah well some poor souls fell for it, last time I saw it there was 7 ETH sent to the scammer.
