a quiet inflationary tax to keep things moving

Are you asking for a, dare i say it, QUICK RUNDOWN?

maybe

So is it a good thing because it helps the US dollar retain value? Or is it bad because it's not controlled by the us dollar? These seem to be the main arguments that people like to talk about.
I hate this shity meme

I meant, "not controlled by the us government"

It's bad because it causes the US dollar to lose value over time.

From inflation? It seems to me that if anything the fed slows down inflation, because there isn't any possibility of the US gov printing money to pay for expenses.

Investopedia is only a step above clickbait quality. There are much better sources out there for learning about the Federal Reserve, including Wikipedia. Nobody should be taking Investopedia seriously as a source of education.

>this entire post

theyre the core devs of analog bitcoin

This is some high quality bait.

God damn.

Yes, exactly, absolutely, good. The Federal Reserve must remain politically independent in order to avoid the influence of politics on its carrying out of monetary policy based on its own directives and expertise. Therefore they slow down inflation, because if congress could politically influence them they would just print money to solve their problems.

>Can someone explain the federal reserve to me?
Federal Reserve -> there is no reserve
It's equivalent to infinite money hack in a computer game.
They have to call it federal reserve and be all serious and have a nice building and look serperated from politics basically just so people are going to believe the will not absue the hack.

It's like you have an infinite money cheater in the game and he needs to try to make the normal players believe he will use his power only for the greater good and everybody will benefit from his cheating.

>there is no reserve
I forgot
they actually have some reserve. It's consists of the left overs of the honest monetary base of old that they jewed the people out of (they forbid physical gold and everybody had to hand in theirs for paper dollar)
