What can I do with a history degree? I think I'm going to go to UT for a history degree, and everyone has made me feel like a loser because I'm not STEM.

You better fucking love history (and I mean really, REALLY love it) because you won't be making much. You should see if you can get your teaching degree at the same time.

Law or teaching. That's what I'm doing.

Forgot to mention I DON'T want to be a fucking teacher.

Hope you like teaching, because that's all you're gonna get.

learn japanese and become a teacher at an all-girls school in japan
and then rape your students

don't, uni degrees are pointless unless they're a) specialist b) high demand c) STEM - especially if you're from the UK as I am, not much point having whats essentially a stealth tax given how much compound interest adds up over the years from your 60k debt.

I recently declined all of my offers for uni and have instead applied for the military while having a part time job to garner a bit of income that funds all of my expenses.

What if I WANT to be a teacher, should I get a history degree or teaching one? Also, how awful will it be

forgot to mention (assuming you enjoy history) that the military is the best place for history and PE students, depending on if you want to be looking at an officer role in the future.

Interesting, is there any specific reason why history degrees are sought by Officers? Is it simply a sign of critical thinking? Or am I entirely wrong?

It really doesn't matter what you're majoring in, officers just need to have a level of higher education. So like for history, why not?

T H I S

Is the only career option really being a teacher or is that a meme?

Go into law or any other public service degree like business or writing and if all that fails you can go into politics, the analytical skills you get from a history degree can't be understated enough

That was me as well. Unless you plan on being a lawyer or professor, you need

to get a STEM degree. Everything you need to know about history is online, it's pointless to go to college to learn that. I was I could go back and get an engineering degree or something instead of being a stupid baker.

I'm thinking of getting a degree in History simply because it seems like it takes a degree 'in something' to get your foot in the door for jobs that don't really need a degree.

Fuck, everything sucks these days.

My man come on that doesn't make sense, go for a degree in what you have an interest in, that way you have the prerequisites for getting into grad school at the very least.

I do love History. It's just that it looks like no jobs exist and I'm adverse to the idea of going to grad school because of the student loan shit. Ive kinda lost my morale at this point.

Worse comes to worse if you have a basic understanding of international politics you could always apply for a pos with a think tank

I'm getting a history degree too. I'm gonna be a teacher too.

I fucking suck at math so that's a no go for me

if you wanna make enough to live, teaching or law.

I ended up graduating with a history degree and minor in international studies, I didn't get enough scholarships to afford law school or a masters program, so I ended up becoming a paralegal, a legal researcher for attorneys. Pays enough to live, with around $35-$45K a year starting depending on where you live, from there it's best to just work up to become a a law office administrator, where you can reach 6 figures.

If you want to remain in the history field, there's not many options other than teaching or working in museums and archives. best of luck.

Can't you be in the CIA with a history degree?

just get a degree
nowadays it means
>i am qualified not to be a dumbass

i was offered law jobs, political jobs at the places i worked for but couldnt get one because i didnt finish it

get a degree, find a job, any job, if you arent a retard theyll notice you and you gona climb ranks meaning more experience, meaning you can just apply to any job without strict requirements later

you obviously aint gona be a nuclear powerplant director but working for the electic company as a whatever manager, sure

Wait you didn't go to uni but went straight to the military and want to become an officer? In my country you have to go to the Military Academy if you want to be an officer.

You an work in a museum or if you know languages really good you can be a tour guide or what not.

Get good, or go into business or marketing. Anything but a liberal arts degree.
