If you're talking about Persians as an ethnic group, then most dynasties that governed Iran weren't even Persian. The only truly ethnic Persian dynasty since the 700 AD were the Pahlavi dynasty, and they never conquered Afghanistan.
Every other dynasty has been Turkic, Azeri, Kurdish, or some other mixed form of central Asian.
Even today's supreme leader Khamenei is Azeri Turk, not ethnic Persian

America is doing fairly well in Afghanistan. When was the last time Taliban/al-Qaeda made it into the big bold headlines since 9/11? Since 2001 they have lost 90% of their fighting power and with Trump's new strategy they are certain to be completely erradicated from the face of the Earth. The only two things that are making this slower are, firstly, Pakistan's non-coperation. The war is being fought mostly on the northern part of the border with Pakistan, and at the present moment it's believed most of the remaining Taliban are in Pakistan not Afghanistan. Secondly, the Taliban can just kind of sit out and hide. All things considered, America has practically won this war.

We actually don't know where Pashtuns come from. They themselves don't know because of being an illiterate gypsy culture, but they have varying claims to be the lost tribe of Israelites, Arabs, Greeks, but also real Aryans in the same breath. The first unambiguous mention of them is by Babur pointing out that none of them yet live in Kabul or the north and all of them live in the south. As we know it, even Hazara have been there longer and been assimilated, hence why they speak the native language. We know Tajiks are the oldest people in the region and descendants of the Bactrians and Soghdians.
