Anyone here in college for history?

Anyone here in college for history?
What's it like?
UCLA here, it's ok. A lot more autists than I imagined. Half the class looks like they belong with the south campus STEM autists.

Lots of fucking white males, OP? History and Political science departments are surprisingly filled with quite a few autismos.

Have you considered you are misusing that word?
being a skinny white guy while using abstract logic does not make one autistic

Yeah you're right. Being intelligent, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor doesn't make one autistic.

>minor at Iowa
>Antiquity and Asian classes feel unbiased
>All Western civ classes taught by women are about how Christianity is evil

I tried to be open minded about it, but fuck man...

Hey that sounds like me?!

Do people still believe Gibbons? I thought that meme died decades ago.

Has no one on this board gone to college? Fucking hell. No wonder this board is so shit, fucking Wikipedia warriors all of you.

>going to marxist propaganda indoctrination camp makes you smart

>was an annoying noam chomsky loving liberal in my highschool days
>go to college
>come out as a borderline fascist

>I don't need college! I-It's not that I'm a retard who couldn't get in anywhere besides DudeBro State! /pol/ told me all I need is trade school so I can learn to weld and die of lung cancer at 50!

>go to community college in Charlottesville
>one history teacher is a middle aged woman who teaches a pretty even-handed Western Civ 1 class and is highly interested in plagues and religion
>one history teacher is a Grenada vet who prefaces the instructions on what to do in a school shooting by saying that if it was up to him, he'd be using .458 SOCOM to deal with them instead of hiding
>one history teacher got drafted, commissioned as an intelligence officer, got promoted to company commander, and then sent his application letters for grad school from where he was stationed in the Mekong Delta
>no trace of liberal bias in any of the history classes
>where I live is supposedly the most liberal area in the state

My English teacher showed us John Green videos though.

Majoring in Bio at Georgia College, took up a minor in history after I had a fantastic history prof. Tbh, the history class I'm currently in has wayyyyyy more spergy looking people than any STEM class I've taken, 3 people with neckbeards and a sketchy looking guy with a Death Grips hat out of a class of about 25.

same desu

I actually went to a very good university located in the south bay, studying computer science :^) Sorry you're too much of a brainlet to pass high school algebra and instead have to take classes such as "whitey is bad 101"

>very good university located in the south bay
>computer science
Such a good university that you couldn't even name it? What educational sinkhole actually accepted you?
And not only are you retarded but you also fell for the CS meme too. Enjoy pajeet taking your job in 5 years.

what are you talking about? it's tacky as fuck to namedrop on an anonymous board

why do autodidacts trigger history majors so much? There's absolutely nothing difficult about it, it just takes time to read and do research

What's wrong with John Green? I've never read any of his books, but the crash course stuff is fun to watch.

>Such a good university that you couldn't even name it? What educational sinkhole actually accepted you?
I thought it was pretty obvious.

>And not only are you retarded but you also fell for the CS meme too. Enjoy pajeet taking your job in 5 years.
Pajeets only take code monkey jobs. Plenty of work available if you have a CS degree from a top american university.

He's reddit personified

He tends to bring 21st century idpol into his historical analysis.

>claims the Persians didn't have slaves
>claims the Persians should have won the Greco-Persian War because they were more progressive
>claims that "the Great" is sexist, says Catherine the Great doesn't count because people spread that rumor that she died fucking a horse

Also, his appearance, intonation and demeanor just make me want to beat him up and take his lunch money.

>why do autodidacts trigger history majors so much?
Like all liberal arts majors, they have a huge chip on their shoulder.

>Enjoy pajeet taking your job in 5 years
The only humanities educated person who can get a job that pays more than $30,000 is the one that screams oppression the loudest. I hope you're a black trans woman.

Most autodidacts have a very shallow understanding of history that never overcomes simply remembering facts and parroting opinions ( see /pol/ ). The rest tend to be opinionated retards like LindyBeige. Not to say history majors are any better; most history majors are retards too. The point is that to have a complete understanding of history, 99% of people need to go to college or they'll fall into the pseud traps listed above.

Also made me laugh that he says that most of Alexander the Great's exploits are probably myths and then goes on to say in another video that Mansa Musa was the richest man alive and Mali super advanced and other unsubstantiated afrocentric memes like the typical liberal negrophile.

>Also, his appearance, intonation and demeanor just make me want to beat him up and take his lunch money.
He did a video where he said that he was severely bullied throughout middle and high school.

Unless it's Caltech, it's trash.

>only me, with my super original and radical marxist viewpoint though to me by prof. Shekelberg, hold the key to understanding history!
Get over it, anyone can read history books and probably have a deeper understanding than you do because they aren't force fed marxist rhetoric.

Not that bay.

The point of a university is that you can talk to people who study the subject for a living.

If you're going there and all you're doing is watching some bored TA read off power points, you're getting ripped off.

Yeah he definitely has the nerd look to him.
I remember watching his video about Islam when I was reading a lot about it and he didn't talk about the theology too much, and got something wrong I think.
Does he have a video on the Crusades? I'm gonna start reading about it, and my brother loves Crash Course, but doesn't actually read books... so he believes everything he hears.

So this...is the power...of autodidact reading comprehension... woah

>The point of a university is that you can talk to people who study the subject for a living.
I think you can do that without handing over 100k in tuition a year.

I don't care that he looks like a nerd.

I hate that he looks like a smug little bastard.

I don't know what it is, but all pseudo-intellectuals have the same facial expression and speaking pattern

Get out of here, only one South Bay nigger.

>reading comprehension
Your """argument""" was "le pol boogeyman" and "lindybeige lmao". You never stated the specific reasons why going to a classroom to listen to an overweight feminist rant about white men is superior than going to your local library and picking up a history book for understanding history.

Who do you think the richest person was/is? Personally, I believe it was Octavian.

Who /trade school pleb/ here?

>100k in tuition a year

Not even Harvard Law School charges that much.

But yeah, our college system is fucked because of stupid government policies, stupid hiring practices, and dumb boomers shoveling money into the system.

Still, if you actually make the effort to talk to the people people, you can get a decent education.

I'm guessing some 20th century dictator.

Maybe Suharto or Mobutu.

The Rothschilds at their prime. Rockefeller.

Talking about wealth in the pre-capitalist world is kind of a meme, since there was no way to leverage that wealth. Sure, you could claim that Mansa Musa was "rich" because he technically "owned" all the gold reserves of Mali. But at the end of the day he probably had a standard of living inferior to that of a contemporary european farmer.

Community college then transfer. Ez bby
