Ego ruined

I run a software company from my home in austalia.

It's very successful and I'm incredibly wealthy. My problem is that I hired smart people, and it's ruining my ego.

That's right. Every single one of my employees thinks I'm a moron, and truth be told, I am a moron compared to them. They are all better at writing, math, programming, art. And they have MUCH better general knowledge.

The only thing I have over them, is my money. But they all know I lucked out with my idea. They probably resent me for it.

Anybody know how to deal with feeling retarded in front of your employees?

You were smart enough to see their potential and hire them.

It's not a competition, if they're making you money, you're the smartest guy in the room.

Give me a job, I'll be the dumbest guy in the room then.

70k AUD per annum and I'll be your social media manager.

Ill do it for 30k a year, usd

This x1000.

You are creating income for yourself and all those people and their famiiys. You are the reason they are surviving right now.

If you do really appreciate the team and think they do great work why not review everyones pay and give a big cushy ass eating speech telling them how much you care about them and appreciate the hard work ended with a announcement of pay increase or a 1 time bonus.

Get creative. Take on a new perspective

I'll do it for a place to stay and a meal

My social media manager is the 2nd dumbest, after me. We get along, but his verbal IQ makes me feel dumb.

That just sounds like business.
Marketing, getting clients, keeping clients, all that jazz are skills too.

Ego is a distraction... pop a tab and get that pointless piece of crap out of the way.

Thanks guys, honestly. I'm in a kind of unending spiral of embarrassing conversations, where I make dumb decisions and have to back track constantly in front of 20 people.

It's sort of a nightmare, but I have to do it because if I stop, they all lose their jobs.

>You are the reason they are surviving right now.

Cheers, that'll probably get me through a couple more rough conversations.

Once you stop looking down on others for not being as smart as yourself, you will begin to stop looking down on yourself.
Been there before.

>"Shieeeeeet Bix Nood nigger, just going out back to smoke some dope homie"

I'll talk like this if you hire me.

The fact that you are recognizing this will go a long way. Become someone who knows how to utilize intelligent specialists. Channel and direct their intelligence.

Also, be wary of a "crowd" effect where you attribute their collective skills to each individual. Are they all great at math? All great programmers? All great artists? Probably not. And if they are, why are you complaining? You are the guy smart enough to have recognized their talents.

Start specializing in management. Observe their weaknesses and practice compensating for those weaknesses with your own skills. Do not let them walk all over you though or slight you.

Essentially, you need to start viewing yourself as the cleric of the party if you understand the gaming reference. You are the background guy, but really you are the one keeping the whole thing together. You are the me in team.

Thanks man. Any ideas how to stop them walking all over me?

Basically, they tend to be right, so I have to let them do it their way.

You're the boss - if someone makes you feel dumb have them go outside and dig a hole.

The only suggestion I feel comfortable giving (given my lack of direct experience with you) is that your anxiety may be an indication that you have not been contributing as a leader as you should be. You may need to busy yourself with doing the research and work pertinent to be a leader, which includes management and financial skills. If that is not the problem (if you are confident in your proficiency in those areas) then you need to look into stuff like "How to Win Friends and Influence People". Not that specific meme book, but that sort of thing.

kill your employees

Real talk:

You're making your money yourself, they're making by relying on you. Everyone's intelligent in their own way.

I've got an IQ of 165 (not larping, I'm legit about to degrade myself for it), but I've got the initiative and drive of an autistic walrus. I know I'm smart, I'm good at almost everything I do, but I'm also the laziest shit. By the time I actually cared about getting a job, I no longer had the credentials to do it. I didn't apply myself while learning, and I live in a shitty farming town with no money, and my IT degree (which I had originally gotten while living in the city, but had to move up here for farmily reasons) might as well have become outdated by now, given that no one here gives a shit about making 'der compooder fast, they got good ol' fashion elbow grease and don't need no fancy schmancy technology'. You on the other hand, are self-aware that you're not as smart as your colleagues, which is far better than most people in charge. Even without the 'intelligence' you want, you're making more money than I ever will, while I'm stuck in an endless spiral of being unable to make money to be able to move out of this town, so that I can get a job.

Now, on that note, I'm happy to pretend a paint-sniffing yes-man if you'll pay me. Give me a job you fuck

I know this might sound retarded or out of the question but honestly you need to just do shrooms or some kind of psychedelic and think about everything that is troubling you. I bet you come out much more confident after having a deep session with your own insecurities.

Also like others have said focus on being management. Their ideas are good and you have to let them do as they please? Good let them handle it. Let them do all the grunt work and just have them run things by you for the final ok. Structure things in a way that let's them take full creative control rather then you telling them what to do and them coming back with a better idea.

So it goes from

>hey guys lets do it like this

>no that's retarded let's do it like this

>Oh ok that is better I guess let's do it your way.

to

>Hey boss this is what we have been coming up with

>O shit looks good guys keep up the good work lets get to work on this bit here first and move to that...etc etc.

You have the power to flip this negative into a major postive

>your anxiety may be an indication that you have not been contributing as a leader as you should be

What is your job? That is spot on. I'm terrified of engaging, because I end up feeling like crap after discussions. Then I withdraw more, and end up outside of the loop compounding the issues.

>You have the power to flip this negative into a major postive

Dude that's great. That's some actionable advice I can try on monday, thanks!

>I've got an IQ of 165

Damn son! I'm in the 140 range. I have insane motivation though, so yeah I guess that's the reason for my success, not because I have Einstein level IQ.

Dude who cares? You can be as dumb as u want, fail in every topic. All that matters is you learn from them and continue to grow your biz. If any of them were as smart as u they'd have their own business. Sometimes you got to zone in on what's important, not the fact that u don't know Asia from Japan. You built their job. If you're really this worried, put your time into reading 48 laws of power.

what a fucking awful position to be in.

the thing is they might be better at programming and maths and science than you, but you have to focus on your own skills, what do you bring to the table that they clearly dont have?
I dont agree with you that you 'lucked out' on some gravy train, you have obviously a more creative nouse than these people and clearly the balls to set up your own company which none of them have- deep down they probably do resent you because in their own mind they see no justice, that someone who is less intelligent as them can be more successful than them probably drives them crazy.

My advice; kill them with kindness, take the moral high ground and treat every little decision that they give you as inferior and not worth your time, it will make you feel less anxious about dealing with situations all the time. Otherwise everytime you engage with them you are trying to compete with them on THEIR terms, in which they will most likely best you because of the reasons you mentioned.

Just dont be afraid of them. Dont let them intimidate you, you have skills and balls which none of them have even a smidgen of, its just that you never find yourself in a situation where you are able to use them. only situations where they can use theirs

1. Improve your general social skills by
a. Increasing your social interaction
b. Researching social interaction guides like "48 laws of Power"

2. Busy yourself with improving your area of expertise in management, finance, and entrepreneurship.

You may have an anxiety disorder and if so, seek therapy, but avoid prescription drugs. Practice mindfulness.

Also, try improving your physical appearance by being better dressed and more physically fit.

Take videos of yourself speaking even if it's just in front of your computer. Observe your appearance, cadence, and vocabulary. Try to improv the videos so you get the gist of how you are coming across impromptu.

Also, check out Jordan Peterson videos on youtube, he may help you generally.

my boss has a iq of 20 he runs a 5 million dollar oil feild company with 2 employees. only reason he started the company because his brother ran a billion dollar gas company. so ya he has a iq of 20 and now he does not work anymore. only reason the company exists is because me and another guy are to lazy to find another job. his day is answering the phone and giving the person that called for a job my number

but he is the type of person that thinks the more stuff you have the better of a person you are. the dude has 14 jeeps. we have a 5k sq ft shop. about every week he puts another jeep in our way in the shop because he runing out of room. he has 50 cars. dude it stupid

Damn user, that’s some good advice right there

>people believe this larping bullshit
Holy fuck Veeky Forums is autistic

A boss who bends to his experts opinions is making the right decisions goy

t-teach me please

it all starts with love and kindness. not kidding

kinda hard because i think everyone on earth is stupid. i was watching a guy mow the yard the other day called him a faggot 4 times before i had to walk away.lol no joke he was mowing wrong way

What the fuck is the point of this autistic fucking board

Sounds like you have a relatively realistic attitude in my opinion. The opposite mindset is way worse.

Really? You are in the 140 range and all your employees are smarter than you?

Being able to find and employ a team all with 140+ IQ is pretty fucking impressive man, I don't think you are as dumb as you think you are.
Also, what city are you in? I've worked in quite a few cities in Aus (Perth currently) and have never been in a team with that many smart people. I've worked in teams where everybody thinks they have a high level IQ, but it was pretty obvious they weren't.

If you really feel like you're fucking up a lot you could hire a manager and just profit as the owner.

Read this shit. You're welcome.

People that spend time with me end up being smarter than they were. Not much smarter in some cases but always smarter, and they all appear and create the illusion that they are much smarter than they are.
But I never offered that to someone as a service, and I do not fly. Perhaps you should find someone similar too me to be your friend.

this book helped me

Op this is litterally my life, i thought everyone was smatter than me but turns out i just have an anxiety disorder. Gonna start doing the social thing more now.

where can i find this EGO token, will buy the dip

He's lying obviously. The percentile of 140+ is insanely high. Average person will only get to know average 1-3 in their lifetime if they have 1000 acquaintances.

You're not thinking pragmatically. If they do their jobs and you do yours then its all gravy. Leave the nonsense emotion out of it.

Yup. I'm pretty close to 140, and I've only met a couple people close or higher. I know they're out there, but I haven't met them. And I've traveled quite a bit.

My intelligenxe has done me more harm than good. Dumbish people have an advantage. Generally more extroverted., positive thinking. It is a struggle for me. I fight every day

This is a message board selecting for high IQ.
Mine is 150+ btw.

Do the smart thing...
Set yourself up with solid investments, backed by your comapny. AUTOMATE.
Once steady income stream is met, show the most entitled one who is boss...

CAN THEM...
Use financial ' disposition' as excuse for getting rid of one...
there are plenty of IT students in AUS that will code for peanuts, dont let them forget they can be replaced.

Use 'inflow of investment income' as an excuse to expand or replace Beta software nerd.

Working in IB in Vic, and by god you learn not to take shit from people who are lower on the company food chain.

Well, I find it impossible to find smart employees. So I kind of envy you.

that's the whole point of hiring people, nobody knows it all, you have the potential to but you have to use your time wisely so you hire someone else to invest the time to be good at certain thing so you can invest time in doing other stuff such as managing a team of proffesionals, you're not dumb for understanding someone might have a better idea about how to do something, that's what you hired him for.

You're the smartest guy in the room because you are their boss, they all want to be where you are.

Here in the Netherlands its actually normal to "consult" your employees before making a decision. It makes them feel valuable. And it is a good way to get all heads into the same direction.

Of course the boss has the final say. He's responsible if something goes wrong after all.

you have too much privilege you white male cis-scum

>bAPEfeRv
sounds cucked....
I dont know how many people you have had to hire/ let go, but you need to show some dominance.
As many have said, he is the bakery, providing fresh loaves fro the breadwinners .

This shit here. You've just got to work on letting go of caring about what other people think of you man. Start by recognising the good decisions you've made, like user pointed out.

dude just hire a CEO and sit back + relax

...
Hire someone else to manage a group of people... who will cuck you....

A ceo and board can screw you out of your company in the blink of an eye. Clearly you aren't Chad so dilution road it is!
