What do you think would've would have happened if Hitler freed the trapped soldiers at Stalingrad. Would it have resulted in a Nazi victory ?, or Hitler would have been defeated either way?

The Germans would still very likely lose all their gains from Case Blue, and their strategic situation would not be much better really.
Paulus was a prick for not surrendering Stalingrad when relief was clearly not coming. Instead he doomed all his men.
>gets captured in his headquarters
>pretends like he's suprised and doesn't know the soviets were so close

such an autist kek

>Referred to as Herr General in the peace negotiations
>Demands that the Soviets use his new title of field marshal
Who else but Paulus

i believe its some sort of fuck you to the Bohemian corporal who recently made him field marshal

That would have been a good thing. If Hitler wasn't such an autistic cuck, maybe he could have helped those brave German soldiers. But instead, we have diaper filling millennials whining and complaining about everything. If Hitler won, as bad as he was towards the Jews and the Holocaust, we wouldn't have subhuman millennials ruining everything.

funny how the guy on the left look like 'Cowboy' in Full Metal Jacket

Not a victory. More of a Dunkirk-style aversion of destruction.
They would still have to fall back and lose a lot of ground.

>Bohemian
Austrian

By the time in the war when they had to make the decision, it was long lost.

You could give them jet engines, automatic rifles and the internet but none of these options would have worked.

Bohemian as in lifestyle.

Hindenburg called him a Bohemian (Czech) corporal.

Wrong.

Corporal Schicklgruber was a cunt

"Bohemian" (bohèmes) is French term it started as a term for Gypsies that were coming to France from Bohemia. People ("""artists""") later adopted their lifestyle.

Paulus was an enormous faggot. He also demanded to be called "von Paulus" despite not having an aristocratic background, literally a fucking LARPer.

This is what I never understood

Why?

That has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Hindenburg was calling him a Czech.
>implying Hindenburg was French
>not understanding that böhmischer =/= Boheme

Why would Hindenburg call him a Czech?

Jesus, you are retarded

...

>How to win at Stalingrad

Encircle the city and siege it. Don't waste time or men trying to capture it, the city itself is of no real value, just press on and capture the strategically essential Baku oilfields.

Have you never looked at a map?

Because Hitler was born in Braunau in Austria which Hindenburg confused for different Braunau in Bohemia where he served as a young corporal during the Austro-Prussian war.

Aha. Thanks for not calling me a retard, friend!

t. never looked at a map

Explain to me why taking Stalingrad was a non-negotiable war aim. Try not to say anything utterly stupid such as HURR or DURR.

You're missing the point. It's not that taking Stalingrad is non-negotiable, it's the notion that surrounding the city is feasible, or that doing so would entail less casualties than historically taken.

From the German perspective, what is necessary is to prevent counterattacks across the Volga, and if possible, taking and holding Stalngrad is a great linchpin to your own defense, as it would be a railhead right near any point of counterattack. But even if you're giving up on the city, you need to prevent sallies forth from that position. Attempting to do so by investing it, when you'd have to make an opposed river crossing and extend your perimeter by dozens to hundreds of kilometers just to surround the position, is going to cost a metric fuckton more men than what you lost in the Rattenkrieg, which, by the way, was only a small part of the losses incurred in the "battle of Stalingrad" and is enormously overstated in popular culture. You're still going to take all those losses driving at the Don basin, which everyone seems to forget about and was enormously more costly than the street to street fighting.

If we had given German soldiers the internet, they would all take one look at /pol/, decide dying for their ideological successors isn't worth it, and defect en masse to the Allies.

That or Veeky Forums would undermine German morale by corrupting their manhood with pregnant Anne Frank porn.

Production-wise, the Germans lost 50 divisions worth of equipment in the 12 months between the start of Barbarossa until the 1942 summer offensives. The total losses from the 7 months of Operation Blue (both Stalingrad + the Caucasus campaign) was only equal to 45 divisions. Not really the crippling blow it's made out to be.

source?

the same would have happened as it happened in Budapest, a few hundred ppl could escape and all equipment lost

the germans were already struggling with manpower and equipment at the start of the offense, they suffered considerable losses, and marched 13 infantrydivisions into a pocket, thats a buttload of able bodied soldiers, doomed, right there

there is no hasty retreat when your tranportation is horse towed

because they were already understrenght, you cant lose what you dont have

the losses matter in percentages, not in raw numbers, the german army was crippled through barbarossa, and stalingrad put another dent into it, then were finished at kursk

Holy shit, no. By the middle of 1942, the army lost around 250,000 men and a fuck load of tanks, artillery and aircraft.

Breaking out of Stalingrad may have extended the war by a fortnight, that's it.

Georg Thomas, Wehrmacht's armament chief

>surrenders his men
>they all die anyway after working in siberia
>officers and himself paraded around being used as propaganda tool to deflate German morale

or

>suicide and last stand

I mean really. This is OBJECTIVELY an easy choice.

Paulus was a small minded faggot who didn't live up to the demands of his times and position. He clearly hated himself for what he did.

oh please. Give them the same chance and show them the average normie facebook poster and they would just kill themselve.s

The Germans winning or losing that war would have literally no impact on people. Unpopular opionion but it's actually true, I wouldn't be surprised if the 3rd Fuhrer after Hitler already embraced democracy and all kinds of degeneracy just like what happened elsewhere in the west.
