How do Catholics justify crazy things like praying to Mary and confessing their sins although there's no word of this in the bible?

How do protestcunts justify faith alone when the Bible explicitly and preventively denies this doctrine?

How do Chr*stians justify following a messiah who states parts of the OT are no longer applicable when the bible explicitly denounces such a person?

the Bible*

[citation needed]

James 2:24

>quotes an epistle as supreme over the literal words which came from the mouth of God Himself
mate, get saved and chuck this pagan catholic bullshit

It is not part of scripture, but part of the Sunna..

Why do goyim listen to weirdos like John that never met their messiah but wrote a bunch of shit anyway?

(( James ))

Because John was one of (( Them )) that realized that jesus basically destroyed the church and he worked eagerly into rebuilding it again

he is literally the antichrist

Last I checked its part of the bible. if the entire bible is the word of God, as Christians believe, than one part isn't greater than the other parts

>as Christians believe

humm sweetie, you need to research better on what books means what

>muh almighty Roman pedophile king said so

>context isn't important

What I hate most about this board is alot of the dialogue is just purposely misrepresenting some position and using it for (You)'s

That depends entirely on the sect

You should study the middle history of the Catholic Church and the ecumenical councils in response to practices which were adopted from the bottom up over time like placing special importance on Mary if you really want the reasons why and aren't a pointless troll. Stuff like this is what caused the Protestant Reformation to occur, so there's lots of it from 1200-1517.

Gospels are the word of god

In the word of god, matthew, jesus said that he would build his church upon paul

Then paul wrote letters about some random shit that didn't make it in the gospels

scholars don't know if those letters were from paul of they were written by other people, only a few of them were (( confirmed ))

So it's all weird, also john epistles could be taken as not really the word of god but just wisdom, james is absolutely not the word of god and just christian wisdom, there is a lot of doubt to be made in the bible itself, you can't take all of it as the word of god

funnily enough, james was made with the jews in mind, so it's even further outside of context

Theotokos

(( God ))

>james was made with the jews in mind
Found the reason that it's pure venom.

Kek the entire bible is written by Jews. You can do that ((())) shit about anyone or anything from the Bible

The Pauline letters predate the gospels and probably influenced them pretty heavily

But like I said different Christian sects interpret the bible in different ways. Many consider the entire thing the world of God, some even go as far as to say the whole thing is infallible

Veneration != adoration.

We venerate the saints because the Church has essentially viewed their lives and said "yep, they're in heaven". We pray to them because we're asking for them to intercede with God, not because we think they're divine. And who is better to pray to for intercession with God than Mary, the mother of God the Son? It's even part of the Hail Mary: "Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners".

As for the Sacrament of Confession, the logic is simple: Jesus gave the Apostles the authority to forgive sins (John 20:23 "If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."). The bishops are the successors to the Apostles. Priests act on the authority of bishops. Therefore, priests and bishops have the authority to forgive sins.

Praying to anyone but God seems odd when Christ's death and resurrection bridged the gap between humanity and the Glory of Glories... As for the bishops and priests, I find it hard to believe that mortals could ever have the authority to grant forgiveness on behalf of God. It doesn't seem right.

Jesus certainly trusted the apostles to do it, why can't it be the same with their successors?

how do protestants justify sola scriptura when the biblical canon was decided by a council of bishops?

Cause Bible is nonsense.

(((Jesus)))

Prayer to Saints (Revelation 8:4)

Confessing sins (John 20:21-23, James 5:6)

Where in the Bible does it say Sola Scriptura?

It is important to remember that Sola Scriptura was established not so much as a doctrinal statement as it was a battle cry. The Protestants were rebelling against church practices that were not clearly defined -- and probably not even mentioned -- in the Bible, such as praying to Mary and the other saints, "immaculate conception," transubstantiation, indulgences, and papal authority.

How do Protestants justify crazy things like basing all doctrine in one volume compiled and edited hundreds of years ago by the institution that they reject?

Protestantism was to Christianity what Salafism was to Islam.

Just become Orthodox

this

don't endanger his soul

protestants rejected 2000 years of tradition in favour of bs made up by Martin Luther (may God forgive his sins)

*recoils in fetal position and starts mumbling muh Jesus*

Jesus didn't trusted the successors of the apostles

No it's more like sunnism to catholicism chiism

>how do Catholics justify crazy things like praying to Mary and confessing their sins although there's no word of this in the bible?

1. Their parents told them to
2. Their priests told their parents to.

That's it.

...

Dude I almost understand the Mariphobia but literally what is wrong with confessing your sins? I don't get how protestants can have a problem with that, even the watered-down version Catholics practice, unless it's just sheer cowardice.

(((Early Christians)))
(((Supersessionsim)))
(((Marcionism)))

so the truth!!

>Revelation 8:4
>Then another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, along with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. 4And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose up before God from the hand of the angel. 5Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it to the earth; and there were rolls of thunder, and rumblings, and flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.…

> saint -The English word "saint" comes from the Latin "sanctus". The word translated the Greek "ἅγιος" (hagios), which derives from the verb ἁγιάζω (hagiazo), which means "to set apart", "to sanctify", or "to make holy

this has nothing to do with grave worship

It's proof you don't know your sins were forgiven at the cross, and therefore proof you do not understand the gospel, or what Jesus did, or who Jesus is, or how to be saved.

Saints are Christians. You think saints are dead people that popes voted into heaven. Huge error in your theology.

>Where in the Bible does it say Sola Scriptura?

2 Timothy 3:16

2 Peter 3:16

Where does the bible say to mix the holy with the profane?

Where does the bible say that the traditions of men are equal to the Word of God?

God knows everything you dope, you don't have to tell your sins to a priest so he can emotionally manipulate you more easily, God already knows, and if you feel to confess anyway, you can talk to God from anywhere, by yourself, without any priest.

It's not "Mariphobia" at all; that's an idiotic term.

Mary has never heard one single prayer, or interceded for one single person, nor did her life play out the way your vile popes said it did, "ex cathedra".

Jesus had John look after his mother, from the cross.

John wrote five (5) (V) FIVE books of the bible after that happened.

NOTHING about Mary's immaculate conception, sinless life, holy womb, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven, ascending live into heaven, NOTHING.

By the man who looked after her UNTIL THE DAY SHE DIED.

Jesus hand picked all of his apostles.

Show me where Jesus said His apostles could hand-pick their successors, and that their successors would have exactly the same power and status and abilities that His hand-picked apostles had.

I'll save you time.

Nowhere.

How do the children of God justify relying upon the Word of God?

Is that really your question?

The bible was written centuries prior to any canon, and many canons today are in error. It doesn't matter.

The 66 books of the bible remain the only Holy Spirit inspired books on earth.

John the beloved apostle, who spent over three years with Jesus, every single day, didn't meet the messiah.

wew lad

>be Paul
>completely coop Christianity
>get into shitfight with James (Jesus's Bro) and gets no apostolic succession from him
>w- well fuck you guys I got the gospel from Jesus himself!

Be Paul.
Know more about Jesus than all the other apostles combined.
Know more about the New Covenant than all the other apostles combined.
Know more about the future than all the other apostles combined.

Be you.

Never wonder how.

>James (Jesus's Bro)
>and never an apostle
>and never a disciple
>and never a believer until after the resurrection

But you take James' word over Paul, the greatest apostle.

That's how I know you don't love God.

>who would know more about the man and his intentions
>man who never met Jesus and made up a bullshit story about him being struck blind on the road to Damascus on a mission that never fucking happened
>or the guy's actual brother who grew up with him and dealt with his apocalyptic ravings for 33 years

>Know more about the future than all the other apostles combined.

That's John though.
