I take the pink part of Northern Italy with the little "I" on it, it's got Venice. Our government is a Constitutional Monarchy guaranteeing some rights to Citizens, as well as Fully Assimilated immigrants (have thrown away all non-North Italian culture including language and religion, best if they actively hate where they came from). We have a special police force to punish people who speak non-latin languages. Enslaving those who aren't like us and aren't willing to assimilate is encouraged.

We have two long term goals: Strip mining the alps until they are completely flat and eliminating all non-latin languages. Like it's a reverse Tower of Babel. Those are the main civic projects. Rulers are encouraged to be ambitious and a little crazy, but that's pretty much par for the course.

You'd have to wait a millennium to sail there first.

First focus would be on domestic development, education and the military.

Trirremes =/= Longboats

Trirremes could not sail into open sea, they had to border the coastlines. Just because they look slightly similar to viking longboats does not make them equal in capabilities.

Get an education BRAINLET.

The Reconquista was necessary for the House of Trastamara to rise to power. Even then, had Juana la Beltraneja won the war the Habsburgs would never have married in. They wanted to expand their power in Italy.

Go to Egypt and just build defenses. Pull a Ptolemy. Convert to Islam and pay Arabs until there's a chance to set up an independent caliphate. Then expand along North Africa, maybe go for Spain.
