Pollaks also always conveniently forget that besides Silesia which had a Polish majority, they also annexed Spis and Orava which had a Slovak majority.

Poland was stuck between two aggressive countries. Incrasingly more militaristic Germany and USSR that thought about spreading their revolution westwards like in 1919/20. Piłsudski didn't want to have both of them as enemies at the same time. In 1934 he gave a proposal to France and UK to depose Hitler which was ignored. Polish government was also thinking about making a deal with Hitler against a bigger threat that was the Soviet Union but quickly decided not to. Today some historians regret this because it may have speared Poland its ultimate fate.

I've had some good discussions with Russian folks even here on Veeky Forums and many understand the ambiguity of the situation and how Soviet Union wasn't really Russia as we understand it and what its government was trying to achieve. And how they can differentiate its policy from their ancestor's memories.
Of course I know the memories of my own ancestors and how the Soviets were even more feared than Germans for their unpredictability but we're not looking into each soldier's biography to see who was a rapist murderer and who was a lad from beyond the Ural who just got drafter the previous month at the ae of 16. We have Soviet graves just like we have German graves (one was opened recently) and we do not destroy them but statues of people like general Chernyakhovsky who was murdering members of our Home Army (officially his allies). Those have to go.

Current Russian government is torn between Soviet and Tsarist past. I saw a Russian documentary about a historian who tried to talk to the author of the official history textbook that ommitted a lot of the Soviet attrocities. It's difficult to face the truth that the Soviets weren't the "good guys" of WWII. So the government keeps old myths alive about the periods between 1939/41 and everything else. To counter them they use the "whatabaoutism" fallacy.

Polish-Czech relations were tough though they were getting better in the 30s and during WWII. No Pole feels bad about 1938 because of many reasons starting with 1919 and it's just propaganda of the highest level to call it a "pact with Hitler".

Polish-Bolshevik War is another case. Extremely important war. New, creepy marxist state thinking about global revolution moves westwards. No one is sorry that they lost. Current Russian propaganda always talks about POWs who died in Polish captivity around 1920 to counter Katyn (or Augustów or other places). Not that it made any difference to them but whoever died then it wasn't a deliberate act. Such things happen and it's tough as shit but post-WWI central.eastern Europe wasn't exactly the healthiest place. In any case both actions don't have the same weight.
If anything Belarusians should be constantly talking about those people who were murdered by one Polish partisan group after WWII. That was deliberate. And yet Polish-Belarusian relations are ok.
But Belarus doesn't have such ambitious goals as Russia.

It's better about celebrating history than the previous one but they can be very autistic and cheesy about it.
