Wrong. I know plenty of smart kids that come from poor families who have absolutely zero drive because their dumbass parents didn't discipline them enough. They all just lounge around complaining that school is too expensive or how it's unfair that the government doesn't provide enough for their citizens and shit like that.

Poor people have a habit of developing victim and blaming complexes, as well as the obvious poor spending habits that are passed down to their children. It's why poor neighborhoods usually stay poor unless the government goes out of it's way to gentrify the area for them.

You are talking about "american poor". I think OP was referring to actual poverty. I live in a shitty third world country, and the many poor people I know could never afford the things you just said, and barely have enough to eat.

With that sais, some work hard and manage to get better eventually. Some work hard and still remain very poor, but usually improve their life quality at least a bit. But I know some who are outright lazy as well. And the communist practices we have here spoiling them doesn't help.

I was born poor, like seriously poor, no sofas (We have to sit in wood boxes), we rented small houses, we didn't have a TV until I was like 7yo, sometimes we had only 2 meals a day. However both my parents fixed their ways, my dad was a deluded commie teacher fan of Che/Lenin/Mao he hstill has over 1000 books of socialism and communism, nowdays he is still commie but he is a hard worker, who works 2 shifts as teacher, my mom (Also a teacher) kept studying and now is a principal in the morning and teacher in the late shift, when she started earning more money, she started spending it all in stupid stuff like clothes and new furniture (Despite our furniture was still good, she felt like changing furniture every year), then I started talking to her and make her ealize how she was wasting money, after almost 30 years of suffering my parents, my family can enjoy a decent lifestyle, nowdays we have 4 houses and 1 aparment, 3 cars, and we reduced our costs and keep saving money costantly.

I don't despise the poor, but I realized that poor people are poor mostly because their laziness, their self impossed limitations or their stupid spending habits, I have 2 aunts who are not exactly poor, but they keep crying how they "need money", etc... However their kids have brand new phones every year, and they keep renting HUGE houses instead of investing and buying a small house for themselves.

It's not exactly uncommon for intelligent people to suffer from depression and correspondingly low drive and motivation. Especially if they're born poor. Sure they might turn out fine if they're born in a position of relative affluence, with decent family relations and plenty of emotional and financial support, but if they're born poor and find themselves having to grind just to reach the middle class.. Smart but "lazy" doesn't seem that far-fetched

This. Parents live paycheck to paycheck, can't afford a dinner out, never been on vacation level poor. Despite a number of bad fuckups on my part, I'm still set to retire by 40. If not sooner. If some of my schemes go through I might retire by 30.
