Historical Photographs

Post any Veeky Forums photos that you especially like, preferably with at least a short description of the event photographed.
If you don't have much photos or can't think of any, I heavily encourage you to just google random stuff and pick out a nice, obscure photo. You can also use yahoo image search or some other search engine to get more diverse results.

The Soviets tried to train dogs as "suicide bombers", by strapping mines/explosives to them and have them crawl under German tanks. Problem was, they were trained on Russian tanks, using Diesel (while German tanks ran on Benzin). When used in combat, they would often run back to the familiar looking/smelling Russian tanks.

You can tell from the forward sight and muzzle it's not an StG-44. Definitely has to be an AK.

I read they would train the dogs of the sound of the tracks to correlate with food. So in the battle they would starve the dogs and let them run to the tracks thinking it was food.
