I'm reading Being and Nothingness right now by Sartre...

I'm reading Being and Nothingness right now by Sartre, butin the third section he refereed to Hegel claiming that for something to be pure is for something to be non-existent. Who is this Hegel, and what writing was Sartre referring to?

>Being and Nothingness right now by Sartre
It's just a load of drivel with a disgusting communist agenda. You're better off reading Being and Time by Heidegger, which Sartre ripped-off and misinterpreted. Read Husserl and Heidegger but avoid Sartre like the plague.

Well I read Existentialism is a Humanism and thought it was interesting, Being and Nothingness so far is interesting, but a little boring, it is at least having me look at some of my own perspectives that are similar to his differently. I will consider the Heidegger you recommended and see if my university's library has it.

>Existentialism is a Humanism and thought it was interesting
Existentialism is a Humanism is only interesting to people who never encountered existential thought before. Even Seneca conveyed the existential dilemma of mankind better than Sartre. Sartre's plays, like No Exist, tend to be better than his didactic philosophy, which is a poor rip-off of Heidegger.

I recommend Camus' Myth of Sisyphus, which actually has literary merit.

>Being and Nothingness so far is interesting
If you read Heidegger, you'll see how Sartre was close to literally plagiarizing him.

Now I will admit it was the first time I approached existentialism, it was for a philosophy class I took and it was different from the Ayn Randish way of thinking I already had from reading a little from the Satanic Bible and other things by Anton Lavey as well as looking at several interpretations of Ayn Rand's Anthem and Fountainhead. My personal and political beliefs are essentially a less angry version of satanism with an understanding for how left-wing politics and ideals gain power and control over the weak minded and self-absorbed while conservative ideals can win either the negligent or the selfish. That being said I do not believe all on either side to be selfish or self-absorbed, but those in denial of the self-absorbed or selfish practices are.

AAAAAANYWAY, who the fuck is Hegel?

The essence, the basics
Without, did you make it?
Allow me to make this
Child-like in nature
Rhythm
You have it or you don't, that's a fallacy
I'm in them
Every sprouting tree
Every child of peace
Every cloud and sea
You see with your eyes
I see destruction and demise (that's right)
Corruption in disguise
From this fuckin' enterprise
Now I'm sucked into your lies
Through Russel, not his muscles but percussion he provides
For me as a guide
Y'all can see me now 'cause you don't see with your eye
You perceive with your mind
That's the inner
So I'ma stick around with Russ' and be a mentor
Bust a few rhymes so motherfuckers remember where the thought is
I brought all this
So you can survive when law is lawless (right here)
Feelings, sensations that you thought was dead
No squealing, remember that it's all in your head

>t. analytic autist
Heidegger isn't part of the Analytic school, you retard. It's common knowledge that Sartre's Being and Nothingness ripped off Heidegger's Being and Time.

>who the fuck is Hegel?
He was a very influential philosopher in German idealism. I recommend using Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy and Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy to learn of his general views.

It was from your leaves that the sapling dropped
Into our pool of discussion and unhinged thought
You believe that it is now only you who we are to see
Like malicious bugs who occupy the leaves of our precious tree
You believe it is the essence of you within me
But truly it is that which is me inside the anus of your closet homosexuality from which you are forever unable to leave.

In a crooked little town, they were lost and never found
Fallen leaves, fallen leaves, fallen leaves on the ground
I hitched a ride, until the coast
To leave behind, all of my ghosts
Searching for something, I couldn't find at home
Can't get no job, can you spare a dime?
Just one more hit, and I'll be fine
I swear to God, this'll be my one last time!

And so I say to the poor boy I'll spot you ten nickels
And with that he found a job, a wive, a dog, but yet riddles
He neglected the test as he took pills to find rest
before he knew it his skin was grey like pink tailed pest
he looked near his left to find his wive had died in her sleep
gone are the days of love as age had swallowed him best
but it was not absolute as his kid was only eight
for his wife was only twenty-five and should have been strong like an ape
It was here that he realized that he still a boy yet lacked the might
for he'd thrown it all away for pills with and so did his wife
and before he'd even touched puberty, he had thrown away his life
A young boy, at the pre-pubescent age, of twenty-five.

It's perfectly simple. He means pure things don't exist. This is the famous "waifu paradox" that occupied Plato for most of his life. It wasn't till Nietzsche that philosophers considered courting real women, and we all know how that went. In short, the point is 2D > 3D.

One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all

Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits, and you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar has given you the call

...

I looked at it politically how the masses side only with politicians and candidates who are either extreme, controversial, or essentially 'edgy' to say the least. How many third party candidates were there for example who had a fair amount of publicity yet were ignored simply for the fact that they were too 'pure' and too perfect for the US? If someone promised you reason while someone provided you nothing, people will pay more attention to the one who gives you nothing out of hatred, frustration, and anger and probably end up siding with that candidate in the end because the one who provided absolutely no negatives was so 'pure' that you forgot about him. Why are there white males with tiny dicks who are tempted to watch porn where a white girl cheats on her boyfriend with a black male with a large cock? These types of males are the same males who are generally racist towards black people when talking to their friends and claim they would beat their gf if they caught her doing the same thing, yet they spend more time watching such porn than making love to said gf. making love to their gf is too easy for them and thus it is non-existent, yet they get hard to degradation.

Through the hole you jump to meet with your friends
Secret lovers, pet unicorns, all pretend
A secret hidden from friends in ones life
Fear of laughter, fear of despise
But fear not, all it ok, all is alright
It is our precious little friends who falling feel like flying a kite
It is precious little friends like these, who let us forget we are living a life.

“When a caterpillar changes into a butterfly it loses it’s caterpillar life.”

Hegel distinguished Pure-Being from Existence.

Pure-Being is supposed to be an empty identity with itself, more or less just a pure white blank. This Pure-Being is considered to be ultimately indistinguishable from Pure-Nothingness which we might call an identity with nothing, or lack of identity with anything, which can be considered a pure black space. Both of these are not "determinate" which means they lack qualities, predicates, sets they fall into.

Hegel considers Existence to only arrive on the scene when something has Determinate-Being, rather then Pure-Being.

Furthermore, this Determinateness, and therefore existence can only arrive in the unity, or synthesis of Being and Nothingness. Existence is supposed to be a "movement" from being to nothing and from nothing to being. The movement from nothing to being is Coming-to-be and the movement from being to nothing is Ceasing-to-be, i.e., birth and death respectively.

The reason Hegel requires Nothingness in a addition to being for something to exist is that somethings Determinateness is determined both by what it is (being) and what it is not (nothing).

So then if something lacks the ability to become nothing, it does not exist?

He is Patient Zero. He's the source of both communism and modern fascism.

Definite. An existent thing is always suppose to have the germ of nothing inside of it. It's something's participation in nothingness that lets it be distinct from other things rather then being a non-moving unchanging unity with everything.

The reason for this is that Hegel wanted to reduce all Being to "Becoming." He wants everything to be in motion and flux, so existence always needs to be on the edge between Being and Nothing.

That makes sense why so many people here are saying he's the birth of communism, though I don't fully understand why fascism. This is excellent because I have always had my argument against this "keeping everything level" concept that a lot of communists and socialists have, essentially in that man is ill with the condition of being human and that no arbitrary machine of mass human functionality can exist forever because man will find a way to control it in favor of one or the other. This is my argument as to why anarcho-capitalism is the only system that would allow man to evolve because it is the only system that does not neglect the fact that greed exists within man, as much as man may hide from this truth.
