He was

He was a career soldier so yes he's be pretty "chad-like". Obviously a tv show has to fill in a lot of blanks, and sadly we don't have any multi-thousand page treatises on Mark Anthony's psychology to go by.

that man look like an asshole

He is an asshole

>sadly we don't have any multi-thousand page treatises on Mark Anthony's psychology to go by
Well we got the philippicae, kek.
No but seriously, you can learn a lot about someone by how other people insult them. You don't insult permavirgins by calling them degenerate bedhoppers because you'd look ridiculous. In the same way, we can infer that Anthony was pretty caddish, I mean chaddish by the tone his critics.

Most of what we know about Antony comes from Plutarch's "Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans" and they got it pretty much right. They even showed his constant butting heads with Marcus Tulius Cicero which was true as Cicero executed Antony's Stepfather, Publius Cornelius Lentulus, during the Catoline Conspiracy. I remember reading somewhere about him possibly suffering from a mental illness that could have affected him later in life but can't find concrete evidence for that thus far.

I honestly really like Rome. The feel of it is just perfect, especially during S1. Sad it got canned too soon, S2 felt way too rushed. It would be nice to see another Rome spring up and be popular while being more accurate and authentic than the one we have.

>No but seriously, you can learn a lot about someone by how other people insult them.

So you ARE a moron? Huh.

>a
What do you think "chaddish" means?
>b
Why do you imagine the ultra-militaristic and hyper masculine Romans would have considered "chaddish" behavior to be an insult?

Ive tried watching the Tudors and Marco Polo to get my historical drama itch scratched, but neither can even come close to Rome

Well he was a close associate of Clodius, so if he was hanging around with that degenerate street thug it's a pretty safe bet that he spent his youth fighting brawls and slaying pussy. That's pretty much what all the sources we have about Antony's early life say anyway. Then he took to the army like a duck to water.

If anything he was even more of a chad than he was portrayed.

Octavia was such a qt

the dude was a literal who roman warrior who yelled a lot and had balls of steel

Of course a career soldier is going to be aggresive as hell

Not according to Cicero he wasn't. Here's an excerpt from the Second Oration:

>Shall we then examine your conduct from the time when you were a boy? I think so. Let us begin at the beginning. Do you recollect that, while you were still clad in the pretexta, you became a bankrupt? That was the fault of your father, you will say. I admit that. In truth, such a defense is full of filial affection. But it is peculiarly suited to your own audacity, that you sat among the fourteen rows of the knights, tho by the Roscian law there was a place appointed for bankrupts, even if any one had become such by the fault of fortune and not by his own. You assumed the manly gown, which you soon made a womanly one; at first a public prostitute, with a regular price for your wickedness, and that not a low one. But very soon Curio stepped in, who carried you off from your public trade, and, as if he had bestowed a matron’s robe upon you, settled you in a steady and durable wedlock. No boy bought for the gratification of passion was ever so wholly in the power of his master as you were in Curio’s. How often has his father turned you out of his house? How often has he placed guards to prevent you from entering? while you, with night for your accomplice, lust for your encourager, and wages for your compeller, were let down through the roof. That house could no longer endure your wickedness.

Ol chickpea seemed to have a grudge

'Grudge' doesn't even begin to cover it. Notice that this is from the Second Oration? Cicero gave 14 of these speeches, each one as harsh as the last and collectively called the 'Philippics', named after Demosthenes of Athen's own speeches.

There's a good reason why Mark Anthony had his head and hands nailed to the Forum Rostra, and his wife Fulvia mutilated his tongue.

This is a typical scene of Marc Antony dominating Cicero

He was shown forcing some random pretty sheperdess to take dong into the ass, while his bodyguards are looking. They make it quite clear that he basically saw her at the side of the road, dismounted, pushed her face against a tree, pulled her dress up ... and was a total asshole.

*his dong

faggot

she enjoyed it tho

Yeah he was basically the epitome of Chad. The final war of the republic almost plays out like a beta uprising, the weird sickly sperg octavian wins out against the chad

Some career soldiers adopted Stoicism or other philosophies of life. Not all of them were Titus Pullo. Actually, being promiscuous was considered weak and effeminate. That's why "he is promiscuous" is a common accusation against political enemies.

In the end, it is hard to know the personal ethics of controversial figures. Was Marcus Aurelius' wife virtuous as her allies said or was she a huge slut like her enemies said?

>caring what notorious liar and propagandist kikero had to say on literally any topic

>Some career soldiers adopted Stoicism or other philosophies of life.

So? Did Mark Anthony? No? Then why bring it up?

>Actually, being promiscuous was considered weak and effeminate

Yeah, no it wasn't. It was unvirtuous for a married man but Anthony wasn't married so it was fine for him to fuck everything that moved.

Cicero was always right.
Augustus agreed, don't bother him about it.

Kikero was always kike, more like. If he ever said anything true, it is lost in the epic tidal flood of provably false things he also said. He was a great orator, very good at persuading the simple-minded, but then so was Barry Obama and not even his supporters think HE was honest.

That was an answer to the argument "because he was a career soldier he was a Chad", which is not true.

And promiscuous men, married or not, were indeed considered weak and effeminate. Manliness was a matter of being rational. Ancient Rome was not 70's America. Being a slave to pleasure was considered weak.

As a career soldier he was overwhelmingly likely to be a chad. The fact that OTHER soldiers were stoics or Mithraists or Jews or whatever is irrelevant, Mark Anthony wasn't.

>Manliness was a matter of being rational

Yeah, no. Just stop posting, its painfully obvious you have no clue what you're babbling about.

>Putting that gypo pussy on a pedestal
>Chad
I think not

>In the ass

Lol m8 you exposed your virginity

Being a career soldier didn't make him any more or less likely to be promiscuous.

And yes, "surprisingly" the world didn't start in 1960. Romans did consider promiscuity to be unmanly and to be rational to be manly.

He was. He used wear shorter cloth so people would see his muscular legs. Was probably Veeky Forums fag.

He was cunt.

The romans were notorious Veeky Forums fags.

Good lord, I knew the Romans liked to badmouth each other but I never knew they would do it like this.

>still talking shit

Just stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

read plutarchs life on marcus antonius. scholars say its one of his best.

yes he was a big chad but virgin caesar got a bigger chad, agrippa, to out chad marcus.

marcus was also a cuck, falling for eastren customs.

>Kikero was always kike
Actually Kikero probably didn't like kikes per his comment on one of his trials.

>The final war of the republic almost plays out like a beta uprising, the weird sickly sperg octavian wins out against the chad
that's a beautiful description, thank you

You think everyone everywhere had the same value as post-60's Americans.

You know you can fuck pussy from the back, right?

Because he was a fucking British faggot.

John Adams?

Cicero was the absolute master of it, he won a trial with a yo momma joke

>HURR

Nigga you can't read minds any more than you can have a correct opinion about Romans. Just stop.

anal is better

never heard of this series, ill check it out soon, ty

>also, checked

You don't have a single argument
