Everyone claims him to be Venetian besides Venetians themselves that state he comes from Croatia ..

go figure

He was a citizen of the Republic of Venice in the 13th Century, its idiotic to argue about his "nationality"

>muh there's no """nationality""" before 19th century xD
fuck off

Nationalities existed, not in the way we think of now though. Especially if we are talking about a city state
Brainlet

is that a picture of Marko Polo, famous dalmatian dog enthusiast?

He was definitely Venetian or Italian, most of Dalmatian islands and coast were inhabited by Italian and latin speakers at the time. Slavs were only mountain bandids and pirates

>implying subhuman squatters leave their grandma's house

>He was definitely Venetian or Italian, most of Dalmatian islands and coast were inhabited by Italian and latin speakers at the time. Slavs were only mountain bandids and pirates
Complete bullshit. And even if it were so, and it werent, Venetian sources would note he comes from latin family instead of using "dalmatian", which was a synonim for a Croatian (same shit at the time).

>they existed and all but its not like i mean like lol ur dumb lol
get tha fuck out

he's sort of right though. any balkan nationality is meme tier especially ones on the coasts. It really isnt that hard to belive he could be both Venetian and Croatian

Is there any proof he actually visited China?

So he wasn't Italian or Croatian then.

He got a lot of specific things correct like currencies used and refuted things stated in other contemporary accounts.

Also there were thousands of Europeans along the silk road during the Mongol Empire including in China

...

Pola klati, pola psima dati

Ethnicity = Italian
Citizenship = Venetian

Any sauce? For what i know Alvise Zorzi, one of the greatest venetian historian, clarified that MarCo Polo was born in Venice (The Polo's patrician family leaved there and we have records about his birth). The embarassing croatian claim (which is Jhon Green's history level) relys only around a house belonged to a random Marco Polo in Curzola, despite the fact that the name Marco and surname Polo were among the most widespread in the Serenissima Republic (guess what, the saint protector of the Repubic was S. Marco!).
Nevertheless, about the Dalmatians, the were a latin ethnic group, and Venice many times defended them by the slav invaders coming from the mainland. So, definitely Marco could have been all but Croat

>slav education

He was actually a Czech traveller Marek Polář who famously visited 'Nam and spent some time in a house of a fake brand clothes factory owner Nguyen.

Doesn't that names Polo means Polish
