It's because it's extremely frowned upon at best and illegal at worst to question whether the official events of the Holocaust happened. This inevitably makes people question the official story as they feel they must be hiding something to so vigorously defend the official figures. Now I'm no holocaust denier myself but I completely disagree with it being illegal to deny the holocaust. It's stupid to do so but let people laugh at the stupidity instead of outlawing it and making more intelligent people think there might be something to it. Furthermore I don't think skepticism is bad in and of itself. The truth of the holocaust ought to stand on its own evidence rather than simply outlawing opposing arguments.
