Military channel has some good stuff sometimes, but that is obviously going to be specific. I think there's a Smithsonian channel or something that has some good stuff as well.

Oh and PBS has stuff sometimes, like the Vietnam War thing from last week.

We get a channel called Yesterday here in the UK which is like 50/50 good to shit ratio.

I like watching Antique Roadshow on it, and British sitcoms from 40 years ago.

I think a lot of people forget how shitty the History Channel was before. It was 100x better than it is currently but History's Mysteries and shitty pop-history shows were terribly inaccurate and fluffy.

Yep their subscription channels are the only ones that show any history now.

Really watching hicks battling against ice while hauling freight is pretty boring along with every other occupationally themed show. When I want to relax and watch history I don't want to watch modern people labor but then again workaholics don't comprehend the meaning of relax.

I bet none of you newfags even remember when TLC was actually educational.

Really cable in other countries even third world ones is superior where you have multiple companies competing for customers instead of this media consolidations and monopoly crap. They have numerous channels with enough programming to keep you in the house all day and plenty of movies subtitled. Meanwhile in the first world you have to shell out hundreds of dollars every month for a similar experience.

Smithsonian channel is great however they dont add new programs often
