Why is it so inconceivable to some people that there can be a variety of phenotypes in a single closely related population? You've never seen siblings who have noticeably different hair, skin, and eye colors despite their highly similar facial structure?

I've actually met a half-Greek half-Italian set of twins where one of the twins looked Northern Italian (sandy blonde, reddish skin) and the other looked Greek (dark brown hair, very pale skin).

I have two cousins, siblings, whose parents are of French and mestizo descent respectively. One looks as pale as the average Anglo with brown hair and hazel eyes and the other looks like a typical Mexican with light brown skin, dark brown hair, and dark brown eyes, but they both still look alike. I myself have an Italian-American dad (both his parents were from Sicily) and French-Portuguese-American mom (standard American mutt) and my sister is pale, blonde, and green-eyed, with straight hair and a small nose, while her dad looks a stereotypical Sicilian-American with olive skin, curly black hair, brown eyes, and a large nose. Yet you can still clearly tell they're father and daughter.

It's just weird. Everyone knows that even within a highly homogenous population, most people look don't look much like each other, with drastic differences in facial structure, height, and build. But extend that to small amounts of melanin and eumelanin (and varying exposure to sunlight) and suddenly it becomes inconceivable and speculation starts about how northern Italians are Lombard rapebabies and southern Italians are Arab rapebabies despite genetics tests showing negligible differences between them, and despite the fact that people with the "southern" look can be easily found in the north and vice versa.
