However it seems many links were pooled and went further past the expected amounts originally intended by the Chain Link team.

This amount raised of $29 million is reflected by this, at this point there is little knowledge of how this issue will be dealt with.

This coin should not have even gone to a crowdfund. All it will do is get peoples ETH stuck for a few weeks to months, if they ever get it back. the chances are so low of getting in now.

yes, people are angry because the value which is going to be crowdfunded is so small now your chances are not high to get in even after paying crazy fees in gwei and on top of that your ETH will be stuck for weeks if not months before it is returned to you.

I can't but they've said a few times they want to raise $16 million and that they will refund all ETH that went max cap + 10% over.
Besides why even have a crowdsale if over 90% of the funds had already been raised, why not just create a small selected whitelist instead of allowing every single email registered to participate.
If this is true they will have to refund back a ton more ETH than they would originally needed from the presale pools.
Again, no way they raised double the amount from presale links. I was here the entire time and there were only about 10 pools floating around at max.
And none of them had close to double the amount, most of them were like only 10% over.

They are trying to raise $32M. on the presale they got ETH at a 3 month low. Now it has bounced back by 1/3rd of its value. This means that instead of raising just $16mil in the presale they raised over $20 mil. including the venture firms that they took money from the crowdfunding is left with basically nothing. It was just very unlucky for us that ETH crashed a few days ago.

When was the presale again? I guess my timeframe is off. It wasn't beginning of August when ETH was below $250?

What if... and I know this might sound a bit delusional but bear with me here, what if they pegged the value of ETH at the beginning of the presale to what it was (like $200), and got like 75,000 ETH (=15 mil at $200), but now the price of ETH is closer to $300 USD, so if they're doing just a lazy value convert with a rando API with the ETH they have on bank, that same 75,000 ETH would show up as 22,5 mil, a bit of a stretch to 29 but they did say they allowed people to "make slightly larger contributions" (why would they do that is anyone's guess). There's also the presale bonus, no idea how they're handling this internally, but that shit might fuck up the dollar value as well depending on how sloppy they were cobbling together the website.

Still, if dollar value is the cap we got fucked bigtime, I'll still try to get in

I just looked and at the start of the presale it was $220 but the last two weeks it was $300-380.
But the thing is nobody really knew about ChainLink that early when it started.
When I first saw CL shilled here, ETH was well over $300 because Veeky Forums only got wind of this ICO the last 2 weeks or so.
So the presale was running for more than a month, they were looking to raise $16 million. You would think that they would close the presale earlier if they had collected the funds, no way, it was a very slow process that took almost 40 days.
All of this combined makes no sense. It it had that much hype presale would be over within a few days, not almost month and a half.

I recorded eth at $378.58 when I bought into the pre sale. I keep a log of prices for every transaction.
