This extra has not been refunded yet, so it was likely part of the $29M number. This would mean $11M for the crowdsale, not $3M.
TLDR; Exhibit a bit of self control and give the devs a day to tally everything up and make an official, final statement.

There was no way to make everyone happy after the presale confusion. Either screw over someone who's ETH was held up for a month or someone who tried getting in at the last minute.
And to be fair these redditors who are losing their shit didn't know that the presale was way overbought (most people here and on slack did) and they tried sending 21 gwei transactions. And 95% of them also were too dumb to do enough research to know that the 32mil cap was for the presale AND the crowdsale.
