Lets say Hitlers Germany only went for Austria/Switzerland/Belgium/Netherlands/Denmark/maybe Norway and Sweden and never touched any Poland/France, and they deported people they didn't like. What would have happened?

They would have gotten their shit pushed by an Anglo-French force because they never eliminated France as a potential staging area for land attacks against them.
but why would france and the UK give a shit? Germany could have just said they aren't interested in france/uk and want them as an ally or will be neutral with them and kiss ass to an extent.
>Switzerland
UK gave a shit about Belgium which was the entire reason they entered WWI, no reason they wouldn't do it again.
alright so just fuck off belgium. they're more french anyway. what then?
t. I play call of war
hard to say really. after Czechoslovakia i'm not sure if the allies would have tolerated anymore aggression. they really didn't give a fuck about Poland but they also couldn't allow Hitler to just keep conquering shit. no reason why it would have turned out any different no matter who Hitler went after.
Hitler wanted Russia, he didn't really give a fuck about the UK or France but they were still a threat. war with Russia while France is still in the picture meant France might side with Russia and tag team Germany however it's arguable weather the UK would enter in that scenario
either way the great powers would have NEVER let Germany(or anyone else) get too powerful. back then it was all about trying to maintain the balance of power
They'd never get that far. It would play out similarly. Only it wouldn't be Poland that brought the Anglo French alliance into the war.
Just as in Ww1, neither the brits nor the French want a Germany that can surpass them. The Germans got as far as they did in 1938 because it wasn't obvious that they could make short work of the Allies. If they start making shows of force, no matter where it is, the Allies would seek to undermine them with military force.
I highly doubt they would have done anything if Germany said the wanted Austria and the Netherlands and Denmark or something.
well they had Austria without a war already
but the Netherlands and Denmark, nah that would have started war, Germany has literal no claim on them, they had claims on Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland and that still ended in war
Appeasement wasn't just about trying to stop Hitler from fighting a war its about redressing what might have been seen as oversteps in territorial losses from the Treaty of Versailles
Hitler can't just ask for random shit, besides your basically ignoring why Hitler wanted the places he did anyway, you do understand the concept and point of Lebansraum right?
>hey had claims on Czechoslovakia and Poland and that still ended in war
uh
Leaders of the Allies would likely pursue a policy against the possibility of future German aggression, regardless of stated German intent. Their public statements could be lies or policy could change in the future.
That said, they did let Germany remilitarize and surpass anglofrench power because there was a peace faction in the Anglo French leadership. Who knows maybe they would actually hold on to power in your hypothetical scenario. Its simply hard to imagine that their leadership wouldn't wise up to the German threat after a series of annexations.
Roosevelt would sperg the fuck out over Scandinavia
If he "went for" Belgium then he is at war with France. Also, the point of Nazism was to dominate the World Island, and for that they needed the Ukraine, the breadbasket of Eurasia, and Western Russia for the living space. Scandinavia is big and empty but its also mostly inhospitable and offers the Nazi none of the things they needed or wanted.
Nazi germany had to invade other countries to sustain its war economy, if they went by your plan they would just receive more sanctions as the great depression withered away, WW2 was a do or die moment for nazism
Nobody ever touches switzerland.
Which tells you alot about what kinda elite resides there and what they are building/planning there.
t. insider
Nobody touches Switzerland because invading a bunch of mountain-dwelling folks all armed with guns and full of plans for attrition warfare is far more trouble then it's worth.
If anyone ever takes switzerland they would drown in artifacts, gold, art and other valuables since their mountains are basically cheese with all teh tunnels and bunkers in it.
"yo switzerland take all this nazi gold and hide it the allies are coming"
"k"
"hey switzerland about that nazi gold"
"What gold lul"
>It's another what if Hitler did X Y and Z thread
They would use a different pretence, the point wasn't really that they cared about Poland, they just knew they had to draw a line in the sand. They hoped and prayed that Hitler wouldn't cross it but he did. That line could have been drawn around any nation. It just so happens it was Poland.
This
nazi cucks have 0 understanding of history or economics.
The whole question ignores the actual history of the situation. Hitler didn't want France or the UK and offered them concessions.
He wanted Silesia and Prussia back for Germany.
The invasion of Norway and Denmark wasn't for conquest nor Belgium or Netherlands.
Those were all done out of strategic necessity to defend against British attacks on German supply lines. The Netherlands and Belgium were done to get around the maginot line.
There was no conquest intended.
Why wouldn't they touch Poland?
Even if they didn't touch Poland (for whatever reason) the Jews would find a way for Hitler's regime to be crushed.
What is Alsace-Lorraine? They would have gotten there eventually.
OP simple question, are you retarded?
also
>He wanted Silesia and Prussia back for Germany
weird way to spell whole Eastern Europe
france invaded switzerland :(
This
because they know everyone would get ass blasted. they wouldn't give a fuck for austria at the very least.
>whole Eastern Europe
He didn't want to annex anything south of Poland.
>thinks anything south of Poland is Eastern Europe
You must be American
...
You are definitely American
Nnnnope
...
>Crimea not a part of Eastern Europe
They didn't have claims on any of those either, the Brits just felt guilty about muh Versailles so let them get away with it
If we look at it as a historical and geographic region, it's not very European. The only Europeanness Crimea got was being conquered by Russia a couple of hundred years ago.
>inb4 Greeks
Yes, good argument, but they were more like outposts.
>gulity
lmao
Everyone would've stepped in to help Belgium and the Netherlands because Britain and France can't have that.
why Hitler din't invade Sweden? did he fear swedish warrior?
but he did. sweden bent over and gave all of its iron to nazi germany.
It traded with both sides, but getting ore-laden ships to Britain was obviously more difficult than crossing to German ports.
Sweden was neutral and had to appease both sides. Swedish government assumed that Hitler would invade at some point, and the nation was preparing for such a situation. They let German troops and weaponry pass though, but they also let Allied aircraft land on its airfields, and helped train Danish and Norwegian partisans. Norway was invaded on a flimsy pretext by both Brits and Nazis, and they wanted to avoid a similar situation.
Finland of course was officially Axis after being invaded by Commies and the Allies said "lol, u r on your own m8s". Sweden didn't want to be in a position of war against Finland and so didn't want to join the Allies either.
>Americans
It's a pretty Russified area.
Of course, Russians themselves will tell you they aren't European, they're Russian.
>There was no conquest intended.
>There was no conquest intended.
>there was no conquest intended
Oh come on now
>There was no conquest intended.
It really makes you wonder who was behind this post.
> What would have happened?
As others have pointed out, Hitler was looking to conquer Poland, Ukraine and Russia, Germany’s attacks against Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Norway were militarily necessary to block French and British counterattacks.
To achieve the alt-timeline suggesting, we’d a point of departure long before WWII where Hitler somehow convinces the various Germanic peoples that some kinda “Greater Germanic Ethic Empire” is a good idea.
>a point of departure long before WWII where Hitler somehow convinces the various Germanic peoples that some kinda “Greater Germanic Ethic Empire” is a good idea.
That's the idea. I don't see how this would have been a worse idea, especially seeing these other countries become more powerful around them.
lets say that couldnt have happened. He definitely wanted the east
you would have to change a bunch of stuff
>but why would france and the UK give a shit?
>implying there was
Shit Bait
He would actually look all right without the ridiculous stache.
