It seems very likely that if the Central Powers had won, it would have been France would have been forced into a harsh peace deal, having parts of their land being annexed by the German and Italian states, possibly having to relinquish their Algerian colonies to the Ottoman empire, and paying extraordinary reparations, etc, laying the foundation for Socialists or Fascists to grab control of the country and start a new WWII.

Thing KR don't realise is France post-Napoleon has NO CHANCE against something the size of the German Empire. They barely held out in WW1, now imagine a neutered France with a lot of territorial losses. There's a reason Germany was completely dismantled post-WW2, it was a bloody powerhouse even with Weimar borders.

It doesn't really matter how ideologically inclined you are when logistics is what really matters. Hitler's Germany was very confident in its success, but it was up against the entire fucking world. It really had no chance in winning as soon as Barbarossa started.

There were actually contradicting plans of what Germany wanted to do to the East after winning the Great War. The Reichstag wanted to create independent client states out of Poland, Lithuania, and the Baltic States, while the military wanted to annex a large chunk of land (Lithuania + Courland + Bialystok) and settle it with Germans, in a milder and less genocidal prototype to Generalplan Ost.

They would likely have gotten significant portions of France and England's African colonies, and non-territorial concessions as well. Ottoman collapse is still pretty likely in this timeline though, even more so than A-H breaking up.

Did the Austrians really intend to annex any land beyond border strips and strategic chokepoints? I know Veneto was part of Austria not very long ago by WW1, but annexing even more ethnically foreign land seemed like a really bad idea for them.

In 1915, the idea was floated to annex Serbia and give it to the Croats as part of creating a Yugoslavia within the empire to make it a trialist state. Until 1916, the Central Powers also favoured giving Russia's Polish territory to the Habsburgs as well (Poles being one of the monarchy's more loyal subjects).

Why do people always assume a Central Powers victory means communism is btfo?

Had Germany been able to enforce the terms of Brest-Litovsk, Soviet Russia would have been much, much weaker than they were in real-life. The areas ceded to Germany in that treaty contained 90% of Russia's coal mines, and 25% of Russia's population, as well as basically all of Russia's western ports. The Soviets would be inheriting a crippled empire.
