What if Venus was habitable? How would this have affected the space race?

probably a lot, there might have been a fascination with trying to claim land on venus for the future. there might have been efforts for missions to venus though the technology was pretty primitive for the era in terms of space travel. however if enough money was thrown at it, who knows what early breakthroughs could have been made?

>India would have been a superpower by 2012 already

this isn't a trap thread

Space would have been profitable so America and the west would have won.

heh the notion of Venus being colonized was all the rage of early 20th century scifi

Venus can be as close as 4 months away. If it was comfortably inhabitable, the space race wouldn't have stopped until colonization started.

Venus is 24 million miles away at its closest.

Imagine if Venus had a intelligent species and we suddenly land there.

It would be very funny if they were like humans except giant haha and they put us in their buts wouldn't that be funny

No user, that's a disgusting fetish.

The chances of another intelligent species other than humanity are laughably poor.

>The chances of another intelligent species other than humanity is almost equal to 1
fixed

Name another intelligent species on this planet.

Poles

If Venus was habitable by the standards of Earth or looked like OP pic then it would likely have its own native life on the surface or even an intelligent civilization. That would certainly change things for the space race.

>or even an intelligent civilization
What is it with people thinking that all life inevitably turns into a civilization species eventually. We're the only ones ever that we know of that did that, out of 8 millions species, give or take a million

evolution is a shit theory with no basis

Not assuming it's inevitable. The fact that it happened once here on Earth means that in a thriving biosphere somewhere else it could very well happen the same way but by no means inevitable.

That would actually start the ultimate feminist argument "WHY DID YOU MEN DOGS GO TO THE MOON AND NOT VENUS WHICH REPRESENTS A GODDESS"

The moon is also named after a goddess, dingus

okay you got me there

>OMG YOU CLAIMED A PLANET NAMED AFTER A GODDESS YOU FUCKING PIG
