History does show us bad implementations of "socialism" and "communism". Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc. were shitheads and the regimes that they commanded were only socialist or communist in name. They mismanaged very poorly which led to famines and inefficiency.

But modern society can learn from those mistakes and start on a smaller scale and grow. Look at worker cooperatives. You have companies that are owned by the workers and they run very successfully even today. Lots of people think that doctors earn the same income as janitors in a communist society. That's bullshit. It's about what's fair. The CEO of a Spanish worker cooperative cannot earn more than eight times the lowest paid worker. Also, the management can be reviewed and replaced democratically by the workers. In capitalism, CEOs get paid more than 350 times what the average worker makes.
