West africa is one of a handful of places that civilisation independently developed, it's cultural and historical significance is immense, but people can't get this importance into their heads. Any time it's brought up people spout shit like "Oh but they were just tribal kingdoms" and other such bullshit. Like Yoruba art and sculpture is mindblowing. They really knew how to capture human expression.
The only reason I can think is that it's not shown in the media so people think it never happened.

B-BUT THEY WERE NOT KINGS!!!

There's only one or two cultures that 'really' developed independently. West Africa and Meso-America. Everything else was at least minutely influenced by other civilizations.

No, fuck off. Casting bronze a couple of thousand years after the actual bronze age just displays how mindblowingly retarded niggers are. At the same time, people were already conquerung the New World in mighty ships, whereas not a single African tribe ever developed a seafaring tradition.

>it's cultural and historical significance is immense While I'm willing to listen to this argument, you really need to provide evidence. What inventions, literature, philosophy, come from West Africa?

That isn't possibly true.
There were a few other craddles of civilization and the civilizations around those came later. The first civilizations may have been influenced by these later but concurrent ones.
Are you maybe talking about civilizational pockets? Because "west africa" and "meso-america" weren't monocultures or single civilizations.
And while West-Africa was pretty isolated by the Sahara, and the Nok do seem to have discovered ironworking one their own, trans-Saharan trade was one of the drivers of the later empires' economy and made a great splash in their cultures (see Islam and written record keeping) - so I wouldn't put it at the same level of independence as Meso-America.
Jason Murphy
>No Yes, actually.

>There were a few other craddles of civilization and the civilizations around those came later. Yes. Persia, Sumer/Egypt/Greece, China and India. These four big regions influenced the world around them and eventually intermixed with each other.
>And while West-Africa was pretty isolated by the Sahara, and the Nok do seem to have discovered ironworking one their own, trans-Saharan trade was one of the drivers of the later empires' economy and made a great splash in their cultures It had a splash late in history. Relatively speaking it was by itself for most of history.

Persia burrowed everything from Sumerian derived civilizations like Assyrians and Elamites

>Eithiopia even traded regularly with China
To be honest the Chinese did more of the legwork in that exchamge than the Eithiopians. I'm not disputing Afro-Asian trade but the vast majority of the trade was done on Asian terms taking place in Africa.
