Armistice

Armistice day thread, Veeky Forums. Only a year to the big 100!

Were the Allies too harsh to the Central Powers?

Daily reminder that Brest-Litovsk was harsher than Versailles, and the Russians didn't even start the war.

PS: After Belgium, the British and French were absolutely retarded to trust the Germans about anything ever.

Ja!

Ludendorff was a bumbling teutonic knight larper retard that thought he was hot shit, got his shit pushed in by not calling for a peace as soon as the americans joined the war while they still had a large amount of french and belgian soil and then later blamed it on the jews and communists and he is basically the reason why germany got btfo. Hindenburg instead of keeping him in check acted as his enabler and the kaiser willy was just worried about keeping his title as monarch.

Also ludendorff was a literal cuck who married a roastie with 2 kids (though he got one of them killed at verdun)

Will we ever see Trench warfare again bros?

>Were the Allies too harsh to the Central Powers?
they weren't harsh enough. France and Poland should border at the Elbe

>born too late to die fighting ayys in the off-world colonies
>born to early to die in a trench in Verdun
>born just in time to die in an airstrike

>>born to early to die in a trench in Verdun

What do you mean? Trench warfare still exists, they are still good for holding positions. You can see many examples in ukraine and especially syria with large open grounds little cover trenches are a must.

The Iran-Iraq War had quite a bit of trench warfare despite there being tanks and aircraft as well.

Can that kind of situation be recreated again?

brest litovsk was not harsher than versailles you fucking memer, taking eastern europe away from the soviet union, truly so harsh

ludendorff was a fucking idiot, willy gets alot of the blame for the first world war but ludendorff was pretty much military dictator for the second half of the war, he waited for the spring offensive to be rolled back and the german army to completely fall apart before suing for peace, not to mention keeping 1 million troops in eastern europe propping up failed states that could've been fighting in the west

>brest litovsk was not harsher than versailles you fucking memer, taking eastern europe away from the soviet union, truly so harsh
>taking away 75% of Russian coal and heavy industry isn't harsh
hmmm, really makes you think

>taking away "russia's" coal and industry in Poland, the baltics and Ukraine
>weakening the soviet union is a bad thing

Didn't realize they were trenching it in Ukraine

probably not
advances in precision bombing and current artillery with hypersonic missiles just around the corner and also MLRS artillery means any trench could be easily wiped out
it could only work at a mid intensity and scale war where you couldn't bring out any armored formation or pound them up

Armistice never should've been declared, they should've marched straight into Germany threw out the Reich government and reorganized the entire country along democratic lines.

Their failure to do so created a peace the Germans would never tolerate backed up with a perception they had "never lost the war". They'd feel the pain of losing the war if they had French troops in Berlin!

thats easy to say from your armchair francois, but in 1918 people were tired of fighting, and the anglo-american forces were not willing to fight all the way to berlin even if the german army was in tatters

It wasn't the Soviet Union when it was proposed you fucking memer faggot
